This Blue Jay visited our back deck a few summers back, checking me out through the window. As it stayed for at least 10 minutes, it may have been a juvenile who hadn't yet learned the job of screeching to scare off all the others birds. Day 6 of #ArtAdventCalendar #birds

In a sunny field surrounded by spiky green leaves, a single coreopsis flower and small closed bud are standing. The flower is bright yellow with many petals, toothed at the edge, and a tightly clustered center similar to a sunflower center but much smaller. The bud to its right glows as it faces the sun.

Day 13
My most detailed glass painting project to date, mainly medieval inspired designs using traditional reusche glass. Both dip pen painting and washes with scraffito scratching out into the paint. Some elements were kiln fired three times to build up layers.

For day 13 of #ArtAdventCalendar I thought I’d show off my most Christmassy feeling #plant painting- Echevaria Ruby Slippers. It turns this fantastic crimson in full sun.

Mine was unfortunately eaten to nubs by my pet lionhead rabbit BunBun and is still recovering. 😅

A digital painting hand done using Procreate on an iPad, this ruby slippers Echevaria has a trio of fuzzy rosettes that turn from green at new growth to a deep crimson on the edges and older outermost leaves. It seems to glow, and has been accented with gold leaf to highlight the long, fleshy, drop shaped leaves and their geometric arrangement against the dark background.

Here is a Dalmatian pelican sculpture I made out of clay many years ago.

The opal is truly beautiful, it has an electric blue base with vivid green flashes and displays colour from all angles. This pendant is sterling silver throughout, with handmade shell and pebble detailing. It is just under 2" in length and is lightweight and dainty to wear.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 10: This spring, we had a day of torrential rains and flash flooding, and this flock of American white pelicans had to pause its migration and hunker down at a lake until conditions were better. This shot was taken the next day, as they lifted off to head northwest. 🪶
