“Let us pray (the Hail Mary) together...” Pope Francis

Hail Mary full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art though amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Hail Mary, Mother of God
pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death, Amen.

#PopeFrancis 🙏💙🕊️

A Lent lexicon 🧵. The fifth word in my Lent lexicon is: TEMPTATION. We all know temptation. We experience it in ways that can be life changing. We also experience it in ways that seem so small as to be insignificant. The source of their power is that they begin by seeming attractive and appealing.

A 🧵 One of the most helpful books I’ve read is “Amazing Grace, a vocabulary of faith.” By Kathleen Norris. She describes it as “an exploration and record of some of the words in the Christian lexicon that most trouble and attract me.”

You may shoot me
with your words,
You may cut me
with your eyes,
You may kill me
with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

This morning I’m breathing in the fresh air of Blue Sky. What’s it like here, folks? Who wants to connect? I’m Catholic mainstream, into Catholic Social Teaching. I give talks, write books. A lifetime in Catholic education, starting in London as an English teacher. Always learning.

1. You feel powerless? Don’t know what you can do to resist the rise of fascism?
Here is an answer: Good Things.
Fascism inflicts pain and harm as a matter of doctrine.
Kindness, care and conviviality defend us from it.
The more we build community, the less it can take root.

Home communion today with someone who, for various reasons, hadn't received it for 6 years. Her (understated) response: "Let's not leave it so long next time, eh pet?" Indeed. I'll be back next month.

(If you've not received communion for a (long) while, and want to, maybe take this as a sign...)

So….
I guess many clergy are sorting and thinking and providing Lent resources for those in their care.
However what are we doing for ourselves?
I’m going right back to the beginnings and reading again one of the first two books I bought as a 17 year old Christian
(The other was ‘Prayers of Life’)
