Neither of those people are real journalists, they’re access junkie celebrity media personalities and that’s why most people in journalism aren’t racing to criticize them, because we don’t care and had barely heard of them anyway.

Eh, I'll be surprised if LLMs deliver meaningful advances for cancer. I'll be *shocked* if they do that while not costing an order of magnitude more than the same research done by people.

Love that @arstechnica.com named-and-shamed the flack who was trying to run interference on this story:

This was always the thing with Trump posting on Twitter in 2015-16. He was never using it to influence the masses. He was using it to influence gullible click-chasing media publications who would do all these "OMG CAN YOU BELIEVE WHAT HE SAID TODAY" stories...then it worked.
I'm deeply skeptical of mainstream disinformation discourse, and it's pretty clear that most of the foreign X accounts are just engagment farming. But to the extent they're politically important, it's to X's gathered elites, not the masses nymag.com/intelligence...

NEW: Earlier this month, I spent the day with the Luhmanns — a family rooted in theologically conservative Christianity.

In the morning, the homeschooled teenage sons tracked ICE.

In the afternoon, the mother aided an immigrant mother whose partner was deported. religionnews.com/2025/11/25/h...
How one conservative Christian family is pushing back against ICE
A coalition of activists, everyday citizens and people of faith — including theologically conservative Christians — who have pooled resources and learned new technologies to mount an effort they say i...

Tarantino’s two-part seven-hour adaptation of Blood Meridian would be incredible.
I would wipe Rise of Skywalker from continuity and make tony gilroy write the new end to the sequel trilogy. It can be as bleak as he wants it to be bsky.app/profile/benj...
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

I feel like it is culturally important to note that I recently played an old episode of the Simpsons on Disney+ for some kids and then a random newer episode and the kids, unprompted, were like “how come this isn’t as funny?” so it’s not just nostalgia we are correct

Been saying this for years and even debated Tim Wu on some radio show about 7-8 years ago. Antitrust is not the effective way to rein in the tech industry. The legal arguments make no sense. The moral arguments make no sense. Focus on specific wrongs, remedy those wrongs, through new law if need be.
Here's one idea: rather than constant complaining about Big Tech antitrust issues: come up with better laws that take into account the actual realities of the 21st century.
Failing to Realize Why Modern Antitrust Keeps Failing

Anecdotal only but: nearly every “normal” (non-techie) I know who’s really gotten into AI chatbots are the same people who were chronically addicted to Facebook. It seems to thrive in the same blend of narcissism and detachment from an often uncomfortable or sad reality.

BREAKING: This is huge news, the EU's equivalent of the 🇺🇸Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling.

🇪🇺Court of Justice just ruled all 🇪🇺countries must recognise same-sex marriages granted in other member states.

This effectively legalises gay marriage across 🇪🇺
