Makes you think maybe kids need teaching more practical stuff 😁
What's worse is, we have world leaders & governments who are acting like this. And the rest of the kids in the playground say it's not nice and they should not do it, but cower if the bully looks at them.
Rather than, I don't know, ganging up & dragging the bully behind the bike sheds for a lesson.
Yeah, I just checked the weather at my house via the online portal to my weather station, which also means the power is also on.

I also turned on some lights and looked out the window at the rain. 😁
I do cheat a bit, I use shop-bought puff pastry. But so do proper chefs, so I am told.
Do I interpret this as in someway suggsting Larry's company is the... Empire? 😁
I know what you mean (except I've never colour coordinated in my life!). I could pack for week away across 3 countries in an hour or so, a single backpack. Now it takes me a couple of hours to get an overnight bag sorted. And if I'm going by car, that boot is full of "I might want" items.
To be fair, if we white U.K. people all took our lineage back to Tudor times, we ALL had family in Kent. And Yorkshire. And France. And all Europe. Probably Asia and north Africa too. Go back 100 generations and we all link back to 90% of the globe. You are related to me 😀
Absolutely this! Not just java devs but everyone who can should use the "Application Info" fields that can be set against an Oracle session. It really aids problem solving and greatly simplfies performance monitoring/improving and has almost zero overhead.
Java devs, please instrument your code 🧠
Have you ever struggled tracing SQL back to the app? Use setClientInfo(...) to add meaningful metadata to your JDBC queries. It makes tracing and perf debugging way easier.

Java devs, please instrument your code 🥺
While preparing a talk for Java developers I revisited the topic of code instrumentation. Within the database, for example when writing PL/SQL or MLE/JavaScript code, you would use DBMS_APPLICATION…

One of his best ever!
And, before anyone kicks off, Jane Goodall loved it and had this on her desk, apparently.
“Well, well—another blonde hair. … Conducting a little more ‘research’ with that Jane Goodall tramp?”
Why does it say version 23? Asking for a friend.
But some are badder than others. (And not in a good way).

Oracle, announcing the releasing 26ai without ever managing a general release of 23. What an absolute shower.
At some point I'll do a proper job of mounting the aerial on the wall, cables clipped on, cable fed through a hole in a window frame. I was just testing to see if it worked first. And if it stops working? It's so much easier & cheaper to buy another one and pop it up than call Mr Aerial Man.
Sometimes you've just had enough of workmen doing stuff that does not work. 3 times I've had people out to fix our external TV aerial, putting up bigger poles with more expensive aerials on it.

Well, I tried a cheap aerial on a crappy stick at my head height. It works! Welcome Back afternoon TV
Hmmmm, Bose. Nice kit but sooo expensive.

I treated myself to a pair of Bose SoundLink Flex (2nd gen) this summer. My goodness they sound good!
Note to self - If the gas hob stops working, don't check if the ceramic plate for spreading flames is properly in place by touching it.

It hurts like fuck!

Swapped to second cylinder, I can continue cooking dinner.

My fingers hurt!
Sue used to get some millinery supplies from the US but now the extra shipping costs are more than the price of the item. 2/2
If you buy anything from the US now there are extra costs, I don't know the exact details but it's utterly buggered some small businesses. I think the heart of it is there was an agreement that "small items" could be shipped with no charge and minimal paperwork. No Longer. 1/2
I don't know it it is the same for you in Poland, but for me to buy that in the UK (from the USA) there is now $70 charge for all the BS that Trump has created 😆

I'm sure US companies are seeing their overseas sales tank.
I never achieved that particular accolade, which is of course recognised as a major achievement within the industry.

My congratulations to you, Sir!

Thank you Stew. It’s my mum who died. We knew this was coming, so we were sort-of prepared, we did the most demanding task of clearing & selling her house last year. Now it’s endless admin!
Hurgh, handling the arrangements for a deceased parent.

7 hours in the car, +1 with the funeral director, +1 with the registrar doing legals, swing by the home to collect personal belongings & chat with staff.

A lovely interlude for lunch with wife & brother.

Long day, but much organised.
Oh, they can arrange that too!
