He is 13. A 7th grader w/ a pending asylum case. Being held more than 500 miles from home & housed w/ adults. He called his mom crying, & reported that he’s sleeping on concrete w/ an aluminum blanket.

So our local school district does not give off for Indigenous People’s Day (even though it’s a federal holiday). My brother lives in a neighboring school district and his kids had off. My friend in MD said her kids don’t have off but they get off Friday for Diwali. Fascinating.

Every day at noon, no matter how busy, Johny Merida Aguilar left his construction job and hurried to his 5-year-old son's school to feed him. His son has brain cancer and generally only accepts food from his father.

Merida Aguilar was arrested by ICE in September and faces deportation to Bolivia.

He was caring for his 5-year-old son with brain cancer. Then he was detained by ICE.

A court has temporarily blocked Johny Merida Aguilar's deportation to Bolivia.

I was talking with someone recently who said a colleague (who works in fundraising) uses ChatGPT to figure out how to ask donors for money. This is his job! Clearly people don’t want to use their brains and it’s frightening.
