A hearty mazel tov to David S. Popkins!

#Bluejays hitting coach has been named @baseballamerica.com #MLB Coach Of The Year!
David Popkins' approach to hitting is all about finding solutions.

If you identify what the true issue is and you take a little bit from everywhere, you’re able to help more people.

Bringing this approach to the Blue Jays and the transformational results made him our MLB Coach of the Year.

Canadians boycotting the United States are actually moving the needle. Las Vegas alone has taken a four-billion-dollar hit because Canadians chose not to go. The American alcohol industry is down another nine hundred million. That is real impact. #cdnpoli

Congestion pricing improves your ride to work — and the air you breathe.
In addition to all of the other benefits already reported about NYC congestion pricing, "In the first six months of the program, air pollution – in the form of particulate matter 2.5 micrometers and smaller – dropped by 22% in the Congestion Relief Zone (CRZ)"

#BlueJays could add both Bo Bichette & Kyle Tucker, then go out and sign Edwin Diaz, and they still wouldn't have as much committed for 2026 as the #Dodgers spent to "win" #WorldSeries in 2025.

The Winter Meetings begin tomorrow, but tonight will be the unofficial kickoff as the Contemporary Eras Committee announces its Hall of Fame inductees (assuming it elects any).

Four former #Bluejays are on the 8-player ballot: Roger Clemens, Carlos Delgado, Jeff Kent, Don Mattingly (coach).

Use it lose it. Toronto has never been serious about doing something more with Exhibition Place but Doug Ford is circling now. Urgent 🚨 but also an opportunity w coming FIFA attn to show off some innovation & Indy race gone = more flexibility. My @torontostar-rss.bsky.social column.
Shawn Micallef: Use it or lose it: Doug Ford’s new law is a wake-up call for Toronto to come up with fresh ideas for Exhibition Place — and fast
Now that the pressure is on, we should think big about what the site could be used for.

- I think Trump's initiative demonstrates the absolute inadequacy of his administration's expertise on modern Russia: they fundamentally don't understand what they're dealing with.

Tomorrow is the Budapest Memorandum anniversary, and I still can’t get over this question:
Why did the U.S. insist Ukraine’s nukes go to russia instead of being destroyed or transferred safely to the U.S.?
That decision armed a future genocidal regime and left Ukraine with “guarantees” no one kept.

OTD in 1994 The Budapest Memorandum was signed. It remains the most spectacular waste of paper, ink, and geopolitical optimism in the history of humankind.

The deal was simple: Ukraine disarms. Russia, the UK, and the USA promised, in return, to guarantee our security and territorial integrity.

Not a huge issue, but need to ask why ‘folks’ has become the go-to term used by political commentators when talking about ‘people’? What’s wrong with voters? Or citizens? Or Canadians? Or mixing it up? Must admit, the constant of the term is really irritating. #cdnpoli

People at various points in my radio life have said that it has had its day. I always beg to differ. There is still nothing like the voice of a music lover introducing a song that he or she is truly interested in.

The humanity of radio is still its greatest quality and advantage.
