The SNAP fight is actually a recapitulation of the entire purpose of the shutdown.
There's a contingency fund, Trump is required to spend it, but he's not, usurping Congress's power of the purse, essentially so he can do it again with normal appropriations whenever he wants
NEW: We just filed a lawsuit alongside 25 states to restore SNAP food assistance during the federal shutdown.

141,000 DC residents rely on SNAP to afford their meals — including 47,000 children and 24,000 seniors.

We will do everything in our power to prevent DC families from going hungry.

On a completely unrelated topic, did you know that household bleach, saltwater, and other chlorides can trigger "bronze disease", an "an irreversible and nearly inexorable corrosion process" that can completely destroy bronze objects?
Feels symbolic that a Confederate statue first installed in 1901, at the peak of the consolidation of the Jim Crow system—when the states of the former Confederacy were in the midst of revising their constitutions to disfranchise Black citizens—has been reinstalled.

A statue of Confederate general Albert Pike, which had been pulled down during the Black Lives Matter movement, has been put back up in Washington, D.C.'s Judiciary Square.

Don’t misunderstand. Trump is ill, both mentally and physically.
At regular speed it really didn’t look that “careful.“ He put one foot on each step. If he was being careful he would’ve put two feet on both steps. There are genuine bad things to point out about Trump. Slowing this down is not a good look for you.

This is how they claim you were 'over the line'. They pull you over and start the riot for themselves.
This video from Portland is a metaphor for what is going on in America. ICE trying so hard to get Americans to cross a line and if they don't, dragging them across the line and violently attacking.
“But Atlas is a browser that actively fights against the web, and in doing so, it's fighting against the very idea that you should have control over what you see, where you go, and what watches you while you're there.”

“I announced…I’m a journalist, I’m press.” The woman to my left hissed, “We don’t give a fuck,” and the other dug her nails into my scalp and pulled me by my hair across the port.”

U.S. allies abducting and torturing American journalists isn’t a problem to this administration.

ICE officers had warned local police that there would be a “sh*t show” that day.

Apple and Facebook are enemies of the open web, and they've shown it by removing apps or pages where people report sightings of Trump's ICE thugs.

The "Justice" Department can't (yet) force censorship of regular websites that don't break laws.

This is why we have to save the open web.

Some of the most prominent "Young Republicans" are fascists and overt racists, with violent plans for people they despise.

And they're really unhappy that their group chat just leaked.

I have always contended that it’s dangerous to characterize journalism as a profession rather than an activity. Even outside of journalism, photographing something in a public place is inherently protected by the First Amendment. No actual journalism is required. @nppa.org @nppalawyer.bsky.social
The hate crime charge against Alexa Wilkinson for photographing vandalism of the New York Times building is a dangerous precedent, no matter what you think of Wilkinson.
Journalist or not, photography isn’t a hate crime

This is one reason why @fsc.bsky.social has been so active in fighting these laws, and what groups like @fightforthefuture.org @eff.org @aclu.org @woodhullfreedom.bsky.social @thefireorg.bsky.social and others have warned about.

A moral society would make guys like this absolute pariahs, basically excommunicated from all sources of social belonging and support. There's no excusing beliefs like this. They're products of an entirely malformed being.

Also, Reagan amnestied millions of illegal aliens (something that seems to vanish from these discussions), eliminated an entire class of nuclear weapons, appointed the first woman to SCOTUS, among other things that Trumpists would today howl are the marks of a RINO cuck
Trump is the opposite of Reagan in every meaningful way.

Reagan would never mock a disabled person, insult POWs, or try and overthrow an election he lost. Reagan wouldn't dare make soldiers kneel before Putin or pardon lunatics that stormed the Capital. All that shit was unthinkable prior to Trump.
