We're half a decade into studies finding that improving airflow in classrooms will reduce disease transmission enormously, and that bleaching surfaces etc. does very little. And yet nothing changes. Waves of flu and colds wash over schools, and the schools pretend it's an act of God.
The relative contribution of close-proximity contacts, shared classroom exposure and indoor air quality to respiratory virus transmission in schools - Nature Communications
The relative importance of close-proximity interactions, shared space and air quality to the transmission of respiratory viruses is not well understood. Here, the authors investigate this question by ...

Finland ended homelessness with a housing first strategy that gave people apartments before they secured employment

Now they’re proposing a 4 day work week and 6 hour work days

True work life balance

Meanwhile in the US, people work two jobs and can’t afford food or healthcare.

We will not stop until they stop. 💕
We’ve reached the point in this crisis where comrades from out of state are shipping us packages of thousands of whistles to distribute.

Know that when we win here- we’ll return that favor for the next city. Just as Chicago has taught us.

We are all in this together.

It doesn't matter if you can prove you're a U.S. Citizen.
Without due process there's no one to prove it TO.
And ICE clearly doesn't care.

NEW: Elon Musk's Grok chatbot will, with minimal prompting, provide residential addresses of everyday Americans.

Prompts as simple as "[name] address" immediately returned accurate home addresses of private citizens — alongside other personal info we didn't ask for.

Dr. Sandra Fryhofer from the AMA emphatically points out the awful consequences of HepB, and says “we have a duty to protect these little babies”.

She also correctly points out that the U.S. healthcare system is not equipped to test everyone who comes into contact with infants for HepB.

As I have suspected, ovulation lowers immunity in menstruating people. Every month right after I always catch a stomach bug, cold, or experience system-wide inflammation. Finally looked it up & our bodies do this so that we don’t kill the sperm bf it can fertilize egg.

Mask up!

My original nespresso machine has been on the fritz so I got a nespresso vertuo machine that was on sale for Black Friday.

And omg. Instead of 3 nespresso original pods I can use just one big ass vertuo pod for my morning coffee. Machine is also much quieter!

Also the coffee is SO GOOD!

In the era of the rolling smaller-scale layoffs, you could be spared from one layoff and axed in the next.

This solitary layoff is uniquely dreadful because you lose "coworkers to commiserate with, compare notes with, or even make sense of what happened”: www.huffpost.com/entry/foreve...
This Type Of Layoff Is Becoming The New Normal — And We Should All Be Worried
This is a concerning trend for anyone who is an employee of a company right now.

1. shows how big tech operates on intuitions and vibes and not rigorous research

2. this is a masterpiece in how to breakdown complex scientific concepts in simple language and elegant pros that captivate the lay reader

Datacenters in space are a terrible, horrible, no good idea.
There is a rush for AI companies to team up with space launch/satellite companies to build datacenters in space. TL;DR: It's not going to work.

Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents.

They’ve had their necks kneeled on.

They’ve been held outside in the rain while in their underwear.

At least three citizens were pregnant when agents detained them.
More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days.
The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...
