I got my annual email from the boys’ aunt yesterday checking in on what books to buy them for Christmas. What great kids books will you be buying, or what would you recommend we seek out for the kids in our lives this Christmas?

I'd probably recommend the Time Key series by @mglnrd.bsky.social. The second in the series The Legend of Viking Thunder was released a couple of months ago and it's brilliant. So starting with Hunt for the Golden Scarab and then moving onto the sequel.

The Earthsea graphic novel would be a lovely gift, as would the final Podkin book, The Fate of Podkin One-Ear, by @kieranlarwood.bsky.social. And I know my daughter is expecting Father Christmas to bring Finding Bear by @hannahgold.bsky.social!

Two of our faves are on your list (Donut Squad, the Cartoonist Club) and we need to stop going on about Rema, so we’re gonna say Lightfall and Demon Slayer.😁

These are some of the books I have been recommending to parents this year. Thirst (and The Wintermoor Lights to a lesser extent) would be best for teenagers as it's quite gory and scary but they are all great reads.

Both of mine are back into Pokémon so I have bought a bundle of Manga. A couple of joke books and riddle books for the youngest as well. I have bought my dad the Redwall collection because he loves Wind in the Willows and Duncton Wood so I know he will love these.

Tosh's Island by Linda Sargent
Roll Call by Lee Knox Ostertag
Cottonopolis by S.F. Layzell
Lightfall by Tim Probert
Unfairies by Huw Aaron
Starminster by Megan Hopkins
The Secret Sunshine Project by Benjamin Dean
The Legendary Mo Seto by A.Y. Chan
New Kid by Jerry Craft

Here are some I loved recently. Under the London Sky is brilliant and highly recommend for young teen history lovers. It’s about a group of teens who are thrown together during the London blitz. Age 13+ (due to kissing and emotional complexity).

Shirley vs the Green Menace by Tor Freeman, Pets Tell Tales by @jordancollver.bsky.social @rikworth.bsky.social, Everything Amplified by Sarah Lippett (for teens)

Only 2 new books to add to Bea's #BookAdvent this year. A Stocking Full of Spies will be at the top because she's desperate to read it!

Ooh! I wasn't aware of that RI book, looks great. In addition to all these, I'll be recommending @edwardross.bsky.social's "Graphic Novel Builder" alongside my go-to Jay Hosler's "Ant Story" & "Way of The Hive".

And if it's not too tacky, my own comic "Pets Tell Tales: Ancient Egypt."

I’ve bought The Odysessy graphic novel and Frieren manga for my teens. They’re into that at the moment. #ukkidlit #kidlitfriday

Just in case their parents follow me on here I can't say ;) But if I WAS to buy books for kids for xmas, I might be buying some Grimwood books, just as a wild example.

I've had 2 kids in my class get me to message their parents the title and author of specific books they'd like based off ones from my collection 🥰🙌 they had already spoken to their adults about these ❤️ I need recommendations for books for a bookworm 3 year old though! #KidBookFriday #ScoEdu
