CILIP & 6 partners wrote @ Chancellor welcoming £10m investment in school libraries & offering support from our expert members to max long-term impact, & outlined how support for school/public librarians, & School Library Services could do even more for kids e.g. www.greatschoollibraries.org.uk

Last year's @theclpe.bsky.social Reflecting Realities report (hopefully there's another coming soon) also showed a massive downtick in publishing books with "diverse" characters. I'd been suspecting it from what I was being sent (+ so often the creators of colour were American). It is so frustrating

It is Anna McQuinn, sadly I don't think she's on here (though as much as I love her books, again, a white author).

It's the start of #DyslexiaAwarenessWeek in England and Wales! Did you know that the tinted paper in Barrington Stoke books helps to reduce visual stress and glare for many dyslexic readers? Find out more at: bit.ly/dyslexia-sup...

Mine are to the ceiling with cupboards at the bottom, but actually don't love them as much as I should because the company that made them pretended to listen to my requirements but then just installed their standard spaced shelving. They're pretty but not what I asked for, & I curse my politeness!

😅 That's why, apart from some built in ones, we're a Billy household

In recent years I haven't read a Barrington Stoke that wasn't simply a brilliant short story in an accessible format, perfect for sharing with classes!

Today is National Poetry Day in the UK, with the theme of Play. @poetrydayuk.bsky.social had great poems with resources that I shared with teachers to use in class, but in the library I've been reading People Need People by Benjamin Zephaniah (illustrated by Nila Aye). Also a nod to #BHM! #KidLitUK

Sure, but, I mean, my first choice is a staffed library, classroom corners are just "better than nothing".
