Storytelling for Science Communication Toolkit: Cognitive Biases, Memory & Objectives
Humans have used stories to understand the world around us for millennia, from folktales to news stories, and from movies to the gossip we collect in the local pub. Science communicators have long bee...

I predict that Pets Tell Tales by Rik Worth and Jordan Collver will become the best selling comic series of all time and publishers should line up to start a bidding war for the next books in the series. Also, the TV/Movie/Foreign rights are priceless.

Did that work?

Folks, we need to rethink our understanding of time and reality itself because... people worry about things and occasionally those worries come true. Science!
"This scientist is researching precognition, psychic phenomena and the non-linear nature of time."

Fascinating! I'd love to hear more!

"She works at her university's centre for research into AI."

Well that puts a real dent in her credibility.

Heartily seconded! Goran is a shining light of talent and generosity on this platform/planet.
Hey @bsky.app @safety.bsky.app @support.bsky.team please unsuspend Goran immediately.

Goran is a great person, a great artist, and the whole anti-Palestine thing youre on is one of those "Ford funding Hitler" disasters you remember being shocked and dismayed by when you learned of in middle school.

The erosion pattern underneath these tree roots is awesome. Very crumbly fine red soil forming geometric columns in the exact shape of the flat stones directly above them. Moss growing on it in places so they're relatively stable structures too.

A fantastic (and free) resource from Faculty colleague @hanachronism.bsky.social to help science communicators make their stories more memorable ⤵️
A couple of years ago, as part of a @britishacademy.bsky.social funded project, I interviewed some sci comm folk about storytelling strategies we know cause humans to pay attention to some stories more than others.

We asked whether they used these strategies and what opportunities or risks these strategies (which are often used in misinformation and conspiracies) might hold for science communication.

We’ve now produced a toolkit to guide science communicators through (critically) using certain strategies. It has been beautifully illustrated by @jordancollver.bsky.social (in collab with @rikworth.bsky.social) and can be downloaded as a PDF here:

I severely need this.
I finished reading @jesselonergan.bsky.social‘s new GN, Drome today. Mindbending experimentation in the art and a thought provoking sci-fi story, it’s a must have.
The movement though the drawings, panels, and trajectory lines, the colours. 35 panel pages with gutters used to create depth.
Unique!
