We’ve now produced a toolkit to guide science communicators through (critically) using certain strategies. It has been beautifully illustrated by @jordancollver.bsky.social (in collab with @rikworth.bsky.social) and can be downloaded as a PDF here:

I severely need this.
I finished reading @jesselonergan.bsky.social‘s new GN, Drome today. Mindbending experimentation in the art and a thought provoking sci-fi story, it’s a must have.
The movement though the drawings, panels, and trajectory lines, the colours. 35 panel pages with gutters used to create depth.
Unique!

Feel free to download and use the toolkit in your own practice or share with others who may be interested!

I'd love to hear any thoughts on this research or its implications for you. I’m always happy to hear from practitioners working on the ground!

Help! I've been asked by a school what my rate is for a one hour assembly talk... But I haven't charged before. Is there an industry standard I can go by?

I loved working on this project. FAO #sciart and #scicomm sky, check out this thread!
A couple of years ago, as part of a @britishacademy.bsky.social funded project, I interviewed some sci comm folk about storytelling strategies we know cause humans to pay attention to some stories more than others.

I cannot properly describe the joy I feel in announcing that my friend ROGER LANGRIDGE (@hotelfred.bsky.social) is writing, drawing and lettering MUPPETS NOIR, starting in February! @dearbhlala.bsky.social's on colors, Declan Shalvey's done a variant cover & I get to edit the whole thing.

Very useful, and frustrating, to know.
If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

For the first time next term, I'm teaching a class on Superheroes! While I have way too much knowledge about DC/Marvel characters/history - I have never thought about integrating that directly into my teaching. I welcome recs for comics/scholarly readings & other advice on potential directions! Tnx!

Ladies and Gentlemen…

I believe we are wrapped on Pets Tell Tales.

Fingers crossed we get commissioned for more. Otherwise, it’s back to the note books to find something to make. Or else… insanity!

In love with these Crane Wizard Monks I feel compelled to draw sometime, unless you beat me to it.

Found in an issue of RSPB Magazine: "Carers dressed as Cranes take part in a predator aversion training exercise."
