Part of today's downtime has been looking at the archive of my favourite webcomic that I've been reading every weekday for the last 20-plus years, and honestly goddamnit @ass.golf I just got up to Marten and Claire starting to date and I forgot how cute that was.

Incidentally, *these* are the chocolate biscuits I brought into work today, so Nigella's timing is impeccable.

My thread earlier focused on the discussion re. FWS - but I just want to draw this out really explicitly:

The press absolutely monstered Dr Beth Upton in the most appalling way – only for the Tribunal to find that Beth had done nothing wrong, but that Sandie Peggie had harassed her.
Also worth noting, the Tribunal found that Sandie Peggie had harassed Dr Beth Upton in a "hate incident".

Decision in the Sandie Peggie case.

She was not directly or indirectly discriminated against, her claim of victimisation fails entirely, her claim of harassment fails largely and her claim against Beth Upton fails entirely. www.judiciary.uk/judgments/sa...

When my granddad was alive, he always liked to listen to choral arrangements of Christmas carols around this time of year. My mother always told him they sounded like so many dirges. But this year I’m finding a lot of comfort in them. (If anyone wants to suggest any, please do.)

I’m baking Christmas biscuits for work tomorrow, the robot vacuum cleaner has been doing his mopping, I bought the Friendsmas turkey, the decorations look excellent. I’m going to fucking have Christmas no matter what.

Pals: anyone got a recommendation for a good queer-friendly nail salon in Berlin? It’s Christmas, I need new colour, and I’m far too uncoordinated to do it myself.

Pretty sure FIFA will award John Boyne a prize for Most Holocaust Understander Ever.
I’m adding this to my December playlist as that fantastic combination of being an enby who is angered by the material damage he does to the trans community and as a historian who is angered by the material damage he does to historical memory and public understanding.

Cap, meanwhile, is here for the coffee.

My former partner tried to convince me that Bucky is a bit dumb for a cat, but this morning she demonstrated that she knows how to turn off my iPhone alarm, and she’s also the reason the door handles in this apartment are turned 90 degrees because she learned how to use them.

Can someone please explain to me what the hell is happening with the nightmare-fuel(led) squirrel in the Coca-Cola AI Christmas ad?

This is the time of year in which I nod off on the couch with at least one cat on my lap and Christmas lights providing dull but warming illumination.

I've been super impressed by how both @adriandaub.bsky.social and @moiradonegan.bsky.social have been able to capture parallels without falling into the usual traps, all the while maintaining a solid (and necessary!) sense of humour. The book is going to be great.
So excited to finally get to share the news that PROJECT 1933 is going to be a book!!!

I really don't have anything to say at this point. Jesus fucking Christ you absolute ghoulish pricks.

I would say that I hope the transphobes are happy, but I really don't, and I know they're not.
Oh for CHRIST'S SAKE, is NOTHING out of the clutches of transphobia.
NEW: Transgender girls will no longer be able to join Girlguiding from today, the organisation has said

This is a strange thing to say but: I’m slowly getting my ability to watch things back. For a very long time now I’ve not been capable of it, not even things I know and love. It just seemed too much effort, too difficult, too hard to hold my attention.

I choose to see this positively.

I’m not an American, so no Thanksgiving, but Christmas this year is going to be a challenge and I’m insistent on making it feel special. So the cats and I will be having roast goose one night and, once that runs out, I have plans for a kangaroo, red wine, and thyme pie.
it fascinates me how most everyone in the U.S. does turkey for Thanksgiving, but we are all over the map as to what we eat for Christmas (as is proper for a hugely diverse nation).

I come from a Christmas prime rib roast family, myself.
I also use the bacon method. Although turkey is Christmas dinner where I come from.
