This is why disasters overwhelm hospitals.

Hospitals, like armies, need to have "too many" people. Because when the shit hits the fan you need every possible amount of slack which comes of having "excess" staffing.

You aren't training/paying privates for peacetime.
Systems need redundancy. Making a system too lean is starving it. A lean system is a fragile system, a brittle system, one that can’t recover when it is dealt a blow.

It actually is very important that you do things that you take pleasure in, regularly. That is part of how you survive the things that feel like they are going to destroy you.

Lmao putting people who say "scratch a Liberal, a fascist bleeds" in the same category as Nazis is crazy

And yeah if you're interested the Roman salute was not used by the Romans, it was invented by artists depicting classical scenes, was adopted by the Italian fascists (who themselves had a very poor grasp of history) and went via them into use by the Nazis. So it's all the same thing.

For the avoidance of any doubt, a Roman salute and a Nazi salute are the exact same thing and anyone arguing over nomenclature is either doing it in bad faith or high ignorant

Turns out I know exactly where these new Gallo-Roman lead curse tablets were found, and as a university student I used to regularly get drunk right across the street

Look a reality where the most miniscule Palestinian symbol is virulent antisemitism but a full on Nazi salute at the inauguration is an awkward gesture is just not fucking tenable

Obviously this isn't the only strange things regarding Egypt in Paris.
The Obelisk at Place de la Concorde is a great example; the Luxor Obelisk took like 6 years to get from Egypt to Paris, and pretty much everything went wrong along the way

Under the July Column at Bastille is a crypt, and in that crypt are the remains of a bunch of 1830 revolutionaries AND EGYPTIAN MUMMIES... It turns out, during construction, someone accidentally tossed some mummies from Napoleon's looting in Egypt into the mix.

Another one is the Diable de Vauvert, said to haunt an abandoned manor that used to be where the modern Jardin de Luxembourg are. The haunting became so feared that the King Louis IX (St Louis) gave to monks to make a point
