Behind the Bastards reminded me of my ex’s dad pretending the fake missile in his backyard was the nuke lost near tybee. He put a Gatorade cap on as a “red button” so people believed it would explode. A running joke was to slap the “button” and see if people flinched.

The right’s preferred gender ideology—one of male supremacy, women’s exclusion from dignity, citizenship, and vast spheres of public life, and an enforced heterosexuality of eroticized domination—is much more prescriptive, aggressive, and ubiquitously pushed than anything coming from trans people.
