the reason turn-based games, management sims, etc. will always have a place in the gaming world is because there is a surprisingly common type of player who will go all in on ultra sicko optimization shit as long as they can think about every decision for as long as they want

like it feels standard in old beat-em-ups (or at least good ones) that if you start swinging at air, enemies will back up, or that enemies will purposely try to walk around and get behind you, or get more aggressive if you're not facing them, and now I barely see that
