Liberal Democrat MP for Sutton and Cheam, frontbench spokesperson for London and Councillor for Sutton West and East Cheam Ward.
Had a fantastic time this evening at the launch of Sutton’s Economic Growth Plan in the fabulous Oru in Sutton High Street.

Strong, consistent Lib Dem leadership means our borough’s future is bright. Read the plan here: www.sutton.gov.uk/documents/d/...

My thoughts are with all those affected by the truly horrifying scenes unfolding in Hong Kong - including anyone in our wonderful Hong Konger community in Sutton who might have friends and family impacted by this tragedy.

Great to see recognition for the incredible work that is being done at the ICR - including right here in Sutton & Cheam.
🚨BIG news 🚨
The ICR has received the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Higher and Further Education for our groundbreaking radiotherapy research.

This work has improved cancer care worldwide—through advanced techniques, landmark trials, and training the next generation of oncologists.

Labour has let London down yet again.

The Government has refused to fund vital infrastructure for our city, offered nothing to our struggling hospitality industry, and chickened out of seeking the new Customs Union with the EU our economy needs.

The Prime Minister just told me any party leader should want to get to the bottom of this Russian bribery scandal with Reform.

He is the Prime Minister and a party leader. Why isn't he launching a national investigation himself?

Labour will betray Londoners if the Chancellor does not lay out measures to tackle our city's punishing combination of a housing and cost of living crisis & red tape around our businesses.

There is no path to growth without a stronger London.

If today's budget really is about growth - the Chancellor should commit to a new Customs Union with the EU

New analysis we have commissioned from the House of Commons Library shows Brexit is costing us £250m a day.

Brexit is the elephant in the Budget room
The build up seems to get longer and longer each year. The subtle hints and wild guesses about what surprises are in store are on everybody’s lips. It’s beginning to look a lot like Budget day.

This morning I challenged the Govt to clarify what their changes to settlement requirements mean for BNO holders.

It would be utterly unfair to move the goalposts for Hong Kongers who give back so much to the communities that welcomed them.

By approving a Chinese super-embassy, the Government is actively betraying our Hong Kong communities in London - many of whom will now be fearful about what their future holds.

The Government must immediately halt this application.

So many tradespeople across Sutton tell me they are sick and tired of tool thefts going unsolved.

The police and trading standards need the resources and power to clamp down on it - or else livelihoods will continue to be hit over and over again, and more thieves will get away with it.

A real honour and a pleasure to celebrate Sutton's Jamie MacGregor and his fantastic hard work with Green Earth Gardens Ltd at last night's Checkatrade Awards. A deserved winner of Landscaper of the Year!

This isn't just Ed’s story. It's the story of millions, and that's who the Liberal Democrats will continue to fight for.

BREAKING ‼️
The Govt has just confirmed that Hong Kongers with a BNO passport will still qualify for settlement after 5 years.
I know how much this will mean to so many people - and will be received with a huge sigh of relief.
Proud that our campaign has paid off and the Govt has listened to us!

There's just a week to go until the budget - so there's still time for the Chancellor to listen to our calls for a 5% VAT cut for Hospitality and to save households £270 on their energy bills.

We took the opportunity to remind her earlier 🔶👇

GB News broadcasted a package last week on analysis of people with "foreign sounding" names.

Peddling unverified and racist statistics on national TV is dangerous and we must call it out.

The Liberal Democrats are calling on Ofcom to investigate and take swift action.

Today's news simply underscores that we should not, cannot, must not allow a new Chinese "super embassy" here in London.

It's not just MPs who are targeted for surveillance, but Hong Kongers on our own streets too. We must take transnational repression seriously.

The Cost of Living crisis is at the root of so many of our problems in this country.

The Lib Dems have a plan to put £270 back in your pocket over the next 18 months.

This is a rare bit of good news for commuters in our corner of London, and comes after repeated calls by myself for residents to see the benefits of rail nationalisation on their daily commute.

The fight goes on to boost service across the borough!
