Liberal Democrat MP for Sutton and Cheam, frontbench spokesperson for London and Councillor for Sutton West and East Cheam Ward.
The Cost of Living crisis is at the root of so many of our problems in this country.

The Lib Dems have a plan to put £270 back in your pocket over the next 18 months.

The Chancellor's on the lookout for fresh ideas to turn things around... we'd be very glad for her to steal it from us!

Hospitality is so much more than an industry - it's a critical part of the character of all of our communities. Slashing VAT for them would be a shot in the arm in these difficult times - for the businesses and customers alike.

The Chancellor must do so in the budget.

A huge congratulations to my colleagues @joshbabarinde.bsky.social and @victoria-collins.bsky.social on their election as President and Vice-President of the Liberal Democrats respectively!

A real honour to meet Rosamund Adoo-Kissi-Debrah CBE this morning and hear more about her campaign for clean air as a human right - driven through the great Ella Roberta Foundation that she founded in her daughter's memory. Her courage and strength represents the very best of us.

It's Mouth Cancer Action Month. We have seen cases in London increase by 30% in the last decade.

Mouth cancer can affect anyone – but early detection saves lives. Know the signs: ulcers that don’t heal, red or white patches, or unusual lumps.

It was an honour to represent the people of Sutton, Cheam and Worcester Park at today's Civic Act of Remembrance on Sutton High Street.
November 11, 2025 at 12:48 PM
This morning I laid a wreath at the Cheam War Memorial.

I am so proud that our community comes together each year to embrace this act of solemn remembrance.

We will never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our nation, and our freedom.

A sobering honour to once again plant a cross in Parliament’s Garden of Remembrance earlier this week in memory of all the fallen from Sutton, Cheam and Worcester Park.

We must never forget the unbelievable sacrifice made by those who fought to defend our nation.

It’s clearer than ever that Sadiq Khan is failing the Met and by extension, all of us.
November 6, 2025 at 7:24 PM
It beggars belief that the Govt is burying its head in the sand over the mounting crisis in Met Police funding.

🚨 Just 2 24/7 police counters left
🔒 10 scrapped altogether
👮🏽‍♀️ 1,419 officers & staff cut

And yet this was the Deputy PM’s response to me yesterday…
November 6, 2025 at 7:24 PM
I asked the Deputy PM at todays PMQs to recognise the scale of the cuts to the Met Police, and the impact it will have on our safety here in London.

His response wasn't encouraging...

The Mayor is failing the Met and by extension, all of us.

Am cheering the Blue Jays on tonight, down 3-1 at the bottom of the 7th, but lots of time left for a comeback!

Good Luck to Sutton United in the first round proper of this year’s Emirates FA Cup tomoro.

My first Sutton game at GGL was just after Sutton's incredible Cup run in 2017, let's hope for more this season!

Football unites communities, and there is no better competition than the FA Cup to do that!

This week I took a walk around Southwark with the police and fantastic local Lib Dem team - including @vmmchamberlain.bsky.social

We are absolutely clear across London - the Govt and Mayor must give the Met the funding they need to keep stations open, recruit more officers, and keep us all safe.

It’s fantastic to see so many volunteers at stations across the capital this morning for #LondonPoppyDay

And well done to South Western Railway for offering free travel to those fantastic volunteers too.

We will remember them.

Thank you to my @libdems.org.uk colleagues, and many Labour MPs for standing up to Farage and Tory calls to leave the ECHR and join Russia on the outside.

We’ve seen a Reform politician convicted of taking bribes from Russia, but patriotic MPs today said no to their plan!

This week my London Liberal Democrat colleagues and I wrote to the Chancellor to demand she use the budget to get urgent funding to the Met Police.

There are so many challenges facing policing in London - and the Govt and Mayor simply aren't equipping them with what they need to keep us all safe.

‼️ ICYMI

Sutton Station's new lifts are completed - so I took them for a whirl!

They're being tested but should be fully open next week - meaning the station will soon be fully accessible once again.

This is really great news for local transport users.

Yesterday in Westminster Hall I spoke up for leaseholders facing astronomical service charges whilst living in unsafe buildings.

This is a truly national scandal - and the Govt's Building Safety Levy isn't going to be enough to fix it.

Leaseholders shouldn't have to pay a penny to remove cladding.

Science will tell you that the best Friday morning rituals involve exercise, meditation or journaling.

Of late I'm getting all the dopamine I need for the day by celebrating Lib Dem by-election wins.

I await the appropriate media coverage...

‼️ BREAKING

Great news - Sutton Station's new lifts are completed! They're still being tested but should be fully open next week - meaning the station will soon be fully accessible once again.

This has been a long time coming - and I'm so glad to see it done.
October 24, 2025 at 11:32 AM
Alongside my London Lib Dem colleagues, I've written to the Chancellor to demand more funding for the Met Police in the budget.

As the 24-hour police front counter closure plans show - the Met is being starved of what it needs to do the work of restoring trust and reviving real community policing.
October 24, 2025 at 7:30 AM
Earlier in Westminster Hall I spoke on the need to build the next generation of green, affordable, safe homes for Londoners - and to end the broken leasehold system altogether.

On Christmas morning 2021, Lillie Clack was hit by a drunk driver travelling up to 100mph. She died three days later.

Her family have been bravely fighting for Lillie's law, which I'm backing. It is right that we permanently revoke someone's license if found guilty of death by careless driving.
