"What made you leave your career in publishing?"

Spoiler Alert / tldr: I didn't, technically — although it depends on how you define the industry — but I sometimes think the book side never really considered me part of the industry to begin with.

Why did I leave the publishing industry? (aka My Villain Origin Story) | As in guillotine...
Even if you define publishing solely through the lens of books, I’d argue I haven’t left, I’m just in a different part of the supply chain now.

Words to live by in 2026, if I've ever heard any--

"Scare off people who aren't your audience."
Begging baby authors to realize this.
Posting like you're on Linkedin or only about stuff related to your writing/genre is soul-sucking. Just be yourself.
Also, scare off people who aren't your audience.
On God I think the way capitalism biz tactics got its hands on artists in the indie field did a lot of mental damage (myself included). Posting as a Brand is exhausting. I'm so glad to see so many artists not give a shit anymore and just openly be people talking about their lives alongside art

A long but interesting read on B&T's impact on comics in libraries from @ginagagliano.bsky.social.

Oddly, Brodart once again goes unmentioned as an option for libraries, especially considering their solid history with comics, in particular. 🤔

Just saw this was getting ratiod hard, deservedly, and I feel bad for whoever's running social for PW that had to post the pathetic damage control follow-up.

Couldn't be a worst time to trash their credibility like this, and for what? #cmonson
AI isn’t coming to publishing—it’s already here. PW’s new AI for Publishing Bootcamp gives teams the tools and workflows to keep up.

First session is Feb 11. Early Bird pricing is now open.

This is the off-season he gets to live up to the hype, and any judgment is premature until at least Spring training starts.

The U.S. is giving dying mall vibes.

I can't explain it, but you know I'm right.
