Yup! Beyond just being fascinating to see, really helps you figure out how and where to put your energy for improvement. If you feel the need to rework it later, you can- what's important is it just exists first to find those next steps, even if hideous. Like building a structure!

The monstrous forms of two characters from a continuity that will never see the light of day. I’m still playing with Verūk’s demon design a smidge (right) but the real breakthrough was an angel’s form I didn’t hate. #art #sketch #sketchbook
An open flat sketchbook; each page contains one character rendered in layers of colored drawing pencil. The character on the left is a long thin dragon with features of a biblical angel such as a body covered in eyes. The character on the left has a quadrupedal stance, a wedge shaped saurian face, long hair, and features such as scales and neural spines.

Holy shit these are so good

Been trying to show the "mess" and ugly failures with art more, esp on patreon, to combat the workaholic perfectionist I am. Seeing others share the ugly side of art has helped in building self compassion, so I want to do that too!

Common Place Book marginalia the night before and this morning. Sometimes you forget how to draw at all, others it comes naturally...

There honestly isn't a better creative ego trip than finding out you made someone lose decorum for a minute and be harmlessly goofy out of love for what you've made. Thinking about that one Sendak story where the kid loved his art so much he ate the drawing he gave him...

Incredibly charmed people were doing this nearly 100 years ago but I've also gotten this occassionally on my art and stories and it makes my day every time. Incredibly silly but the raw earnestness of it... one of the best compliments one can recieve imo

This is old and it's not even the first time I've seen it but I need to stress to everyone that I am the reincarnation of this teenage girl
Tale Foundry
@TheTaleFoundry
Brainrot this, chronically online that...
Meanwhile some teenage girl in the 1930s was sending these to her faourite horror magazine:

Devil's Croft is enticing. Raggh---woof---grr---I like so very much.

If you can get me any more story-length poems like Lovecraft's Psychopompos---by all means 'gimme.'

Ah---ahaha---haw haww---chuckle!

I am quite frankly desperate to make ends meet this month. We are $900 short on rent alone despite everything, and could really use any help we can get. I'm taking autumn YCH commissions and accepting any other help I can get to make sure the check clear in just a few days here.

Oh good God evidently light box wasn't on this whole time again. OTL
NOW viewers can click the gallery images to see them in full, rather than tiny thumbnails

Many have asked so I finally threw up a chaotic gallery where you can freely view some (far from all...) Widderwood art! Comics, concepts, doodles, illus... WIP, but its got a bit to start.

The Star
Even now, I will hold hope
#fae #fairy #art
A horned blue fairy sits on the rocks in a cove, surrounded by streams of water. She is hunched protectively over daffodils and through tears, looks up with intense defiance. A bright 8-point star bursts from her chest. Below her, a cup has fallen into the water. Behind, a draining up-turned vase, with another vase and chalice upright.

I KNOW... it kills me every time something includes it lol

I finally watched Rocky Horror for the first time ever. Heavily respect the bold chaotic freak energy. especially considering the time period it came out- but couldn't help the entire time thinking "oh this is how conservatives view us" lmao

hey do you want to support a disabled artist while seeing more of waite's dick (and my art process) (and a sketch of him railing his wifehusband)

Hope this will just go the route of a cease and desist and they get scared straight with no big fanfare!

Christ, this on top of everything else you've been dealing with? I'm so sorry. While this isn't my expertise and you should definitely follow a lawyers advice, if you need any additional eyes/feedback on letters you want to send them to check wordage I'd be happy to help.

At this point I tend to just accept typos and mistakes when posting but someone's name I feel deserves a bit more consideration so... repost! My brain can never tell these two apart for some reason, sorry lol

Additionally this comment on Hank Green's video is one I want to highlight.
Screenshot of a YouTube comment on "The web is going to die" video by Vlogbrothers. It reads: "

I would like to add: all the examples of ghost towns that you gave (whether in-person or online) seem to have something in common: they all grew very quickly. those towns in the rockies didn't start because the idea to have a town there was good, they started because a few people wanted to get rich quick and thought they found a "gold mine." But when the money dries up, and there's nothing left for those folks, they leave. And what they leave behind are all the honest people who tried to form a life there - to make something beautiful - but who were then left behind holding the bill for a false set of goods; sold to them by the same people who subsequently abandoned them.

and this idea translates to technology so well. thank you, Hank, for sharing this idea with us. Hopefully, we (humanity) can continue to find beauty and create life from spaces that others abandon. "

(Repost I mixed them up lol)
This short video by Hank Green connecting our current digital landscape to real, physical ghost towns within the US makes me wonder a lot about our future. Especially with the current topic of how bsky operators are insulting their own userbase.

It is true what I've seen others say about indie comics: you need to be fucking unhinged and maybe touched by a God's direction to be able to stick with making a webcomic. Just absolutely torn apart by long-running obsession. I'm Dr. Frankenstein over here making weird guys kiss

I am maybe a fool for doing what every professional comic artist dissuades: committing a decade of your life to forcing your blorbos into a passion project story as your first comic. I certainly don't reccommend it- but for me, every second has given me fulfillment. I do not regret it. I love this.

Widderwood has gone through about... maybe 10 versions now, over the past 5 or 6 years of active writing? Scripted in full twice, then scrapped, restarted.

There's something very different about this round. As long as there's still a spark- sometimes things just take time and a lot of failure.

Goblin (fiance + the one who packs store orders) has been helping a lot in writing Widderwood. While I control this, they've been instrumental in giving me encouragement, support, and leading me down new paths to explore ❤️ theyre my professional coding rubber ducky but for art
