My cartoon in today's www.thepress.co.nz/nz-news/3608...

The Scream is a metaphor for nature & Munch was the receptor for its pain. Here he is, so overwhelmed he's taking time out of the painting only to find more pain in the news...

#NzPol #PoliticalCartoon #ClimateChange #EdvardMunch
Cartoon. Title: Government almost halves methane reduction targets...

We see the Scream, from Edvard Munch's most famous works of art, collapsed in a wingback armchair.

He had stepped out of the painting to take a break from the chaos. The metaphor of the artwork is of natures pain and how he had actually felt it.

But sadly he's entered into a world that is chaotic and deliberately trying to hurt Mother Earth even more.

He has a newspaper slowly sliding out from his hand with the title - Farmers Rejoice.

Email today from ActionStation re update in Māori wards
Fingers crossed for the special votes update

In good news more people than ever voted for them and us peeps in Wellington Regional Council area - 40,000 more of us voted to keep! Nice work good peeps
And to all those racists out there🖕🏼🖕🏼
What is this all about:
• What we know about the Mãori wards results so far
• Meanwhile, fresh attacks on Te Tiriti...

After a big weekend for local elections, the preliminary results of the Mãori wards referendums have been revealed.
So far, the count shows that 18 Mäori ward seats have been kept, and 24 have been removed. There has been one flip already, showing that we cannot know the final results until all the special votes are counted later this week.
For the areas that have definitely lost their seats, the news is deeply disappointing. It didn't have to be this way. This was a deliberate act by the Coalition Government to get Mãori out of decision-making roles under the guise of democracy.
But their plan was not a resounding success.
In the bigger picture, new reports are showing that preliminary results indicate that across the nation, more people voted for Mãori Wards than against - and that's a win!
When we compared the results in the areas that have had a referendum in the last ten years, there was a 13% - 31% increase in support for Mãori wards.
In the Greater Wellington Regional Council alone, over 40,000 more people voted to keep Mãori wards instead of remove.
The special votes are still to be counted, and these are more likely to include Mãori and young people - but right now, it's looking like our country on the whole, is moving towards a Te Tiriti based future that values Mãori representation.

Yet while we were still out voting in force, the Coalition Government used the moment to push through even more anti-Te Tiriti measures.

I have asked for a replacement and am told the manufacturer has right of repair or replace
Is this the case for repeat failures?

They have to list depression and suicide hotlines at the end of a story about how misogynistic, racist, transphobic, and hateful a lot of boys are.

My first band, 1971. Bringing country and pop to the pubs and halls of Wellington, the Hutt Valley and the Kapiti Coast. Spot the 15 year old drummer at the back! Anybody got a copy of our only record, "Moonshine"/"Mountain Dew", on the Sonic label? Would love to get a copy.

However for Luxon, I wouldn’t put it past him. But I seriously hope the son did this by himself.

It's weird how Luxon's son got a job as international cabin crew at the age of 19 with the airline his dad had just spent 7 years as CEO of (did you know he used to run an airline?) which means he must have spent at least 18 months working in a high pressured customer service environment prior...

Instead of taking up with the RNZ opinion piece, see that 20 economists from around Aotearoa have written and hand an open letter to the government asking them to change tack in the direction they are leading the economy.

Please share this letter.

Luxon and his govt have consistently prioritised landlords, tobacco industry, and their wealthy mates over and above everyone else in their legislation and policy making. This is no different.

This is Luxon rewarding wealthy business owners with a supply of cheap labour.

Just how many ways CAN you say, “Go and die in a ditch” to the unemployed?
