My cartoon in today's www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3605... (standing in for Sharon Murdoch for the next 6 weeks).

Waitangi Day was supposed to be a coming together of our Nation to commemorate the signing of our founding document. Slightly hijacked by Mr Seymour.

#NzPol #WaitangiDay
Cartoon title: Cold Shoulder

A tiny David Seymour, with his own tiny little mic, stands brazenly holding his speech. But what we hear is and see in his speech bubble are the words "Me! Me! Me! Me! Me! Me!" Over and over again. Nothing more nothing less. It's all about him.

A group of 7 wahine stand with their backs turned to him. They are wearing handmade blankets with the words Toitū te Tiriti emblazoned on them. Tino Rangariratanga flag is there as is the flag of the united tribes of Aotearoa too. A few wahine are wearing weaved hats and a velvet Panama hat. They stand strong.

I've been using hypnosis for years to calm down my anxiety or my sensitivity rejection. And if that doesn't work (I know it's not environmentally friendly) a quick drive round town with my boy
creativeelc.bsky.social
The King had one pocket in his jacket (but that looks better than trouser pocket). It looks better than what Luxo did 😬
creativeelc.bsky.social
Absolutely! Every time I see Luxo on TV with hands in his pockets I can't help but shout at the tv 😂 "Get them hands out!" 🤦‍♀️😂

Having clasped hands also looks humble or at least like you want the person to feel comfortable around you.
creativeelc.bsky.social
Hands clasped at the front or clasped behind the back could solve that without him looking like a tool 😃

I went to a local town hall meeting last year. I asked the MP if the temp 'pause' of Whaikaha would be temporary. She avoided the question. I knew then it was their vision to disestablish.
creativeelc.bsky.social
I can't remember where I was taught not to put my hands/hand in my pocket but hasten to say it was a very long time ago & it never left me.

If Luxo was a popular PM maybe it wouldn't look so bad. But his whole demeanour screams 'look at me! I'm so cool' 🤦‍♀️🥴

Well, that didn’t go how I hoped it would. To say I’m a little disappointed in the NZ voting public’s decision on Māori wards is an understatement. Here’s a thought about aspiring to the bare minimum (& given our #nitrate problem even that might be too much)
My Stuff #cartoon today #nzpol
Cartoon. Title: “A Traditional Local Body Election Blessing” Image shows a fairy with a wand, dressed in orange, beside a levitating voting box. She’s saying, “May all your municipal dreams come true!” And then, “And if you can’t have that, may your reticulated water be potable”

Govt to cut #JobSeeker benefit for 18 & 19 year olds who’s parents earn over $65,000, even if the teens have a disability or health condition. With #CostOfLiving & the job shortage they’re cranking up stress levels to 11, all to meet a target.
My #cartoon today about hard-nosed #NZpol
Cartoon. Title: “Job Seeee-e-e-e” Image shows PM Christopher Luxon at the open hatch of a small plane, high above farmland. He’s leaning out, and holding up a parachute pack, labelled “Job Seeker” He’s calling out to someone falling from the plane, “And I’ve kept your parachute because you kids from low-income homes need some motivation” Then he adds, “Don’t let that disability slow you down!”

“Tony Blair should be heading to The Hague, not to Gaza.”

@mehdirhasan.bsky.social explains why Tony Blair should be on trial for war crimes in Iraq, instead of planning to destroy Gaza further with Trump on ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored.’

The Govt wants to cut Health NZ staff working on alcohol harm & end its research & social marketing campaigns. Sixty five organisations have signed an open letter to the PM, calling for alcohol industry to be excluded from policy making.

Important point by Pearse in the Herald here - identifying that NZF et al don't REALLY care about what happened except as something to be weaponised. Would be great if a few more in the media/pol class were able to reflect on this BEFORE they spent the last 2 days escalating in their own right
text from nz herald article

"But although Peters condemned the attack on his house as a “disgrace”, he was quite happy to taunt Swarbrick as “crowbar Chlöe”. Shane Jones, vocal even by his standards in defence of his leader, freely bellowed: “Where’s the crowbar?”
Either it’s a serious attack that threatened a politician’s family and crossed a line, or it’s something to tease your political opponent with. It shouldn’t be both."

This one's been grating me big time. Got some photos together to help with the caricature 😃
16 photos of luxon standing with either both hands in his pockets or one hand. He's looking nonchalant and noncommittal when talking to everyone.

Luxon giving his 'best' advice to unemployed youth...

#NzPol #Caricature #Cartoon #PoliticalCartoon #EditorialCartoon #Luxon
Cartoon. Title: Youth 'Pep' talk...

A tiny Luxon is in the hall talking to young people. He's standing on a stool with his hand casually in his pocket lecturing a room of youth.

He's saying, "The world doesn't owe you a living! BUT... if you grow up to be a landlord..."

In the audience over 20 young people with varying expressions react to his speech. One in particular is looking at us with a distinct angry face.
