This is so good from Cory Doctorow on all the tricks Amazon uses to get both consumers to pay more, and how businesses on the platform end up paying it 45-51 cents on every dollar.

Plus he rightly calls for regulatory change, not just individual consumer action

Do NOT allow them to rewrite history with disinformation. #COVID vaccines worked remarkably well and allowed us to come out of a global pandemic. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Tariffs are a GOP tax increase on everyday Americans. They can’t call it a tax increase because that is hugely unpopular, but tariffs is their tricky way to hide it. The money is coming out of our pockets is to pay for the tax cuts for billionaires. Trickle up economics.

There’s no political genius to what Trump does. It’s political arson. He sets one fire. People demand to know what that fire was all about and why he started it, and his response is to start a second fire. And when asked about the second fire, he starts a third. Etc., etc..

🧵 Rogier van der Weyden (1399/1400-1464) was one of the most famous & respected Early Netherlandish painters of his time. He was forgotten until the 19th century & is now ranked with Van Eyck & Robert Campin in importance. [1]

They didn't attempt a violent coup because of the left. They aren't destroying US science & academia because of the left. They're not embracing open racism & nazi ideology because of the left.

They are adults, making choices, doing things of their own volition, and they bear the responsibility.

"The Apprentice" was FICTION. Trump was not successful in real estate. He lost a fortune by his incompetence. It was through Daddy's hundreds of millions of dollars, Deutsche Bank loans, and sets built to make Trump's offices look prosperous that was he able to fool Americans about he success.

fwiw it's not hard to craft a line that nods to kitchen table issues but still captures some urgency. "you put this asshole in office to make your life easier but all he's done is cut taxes for his rich buddies, kidnapped your neighbors and sent the military to tell you to shut up when you complain"

Maybe the kompromat Putin had on Trump all along was some form of the Epstein files. We've always wondered what could Putin have on Trump? Why did Trump always bend the knee? Perhaps we are learning, now.

Yes, I think there should be far more discussion about whether the reason for the White House going into full Cabinet level battle mode over Maxwell is that she is blackmailing Trump, and that Trump may now be officially compromised.
