I was just looking at the actual announcement and FYI it's opt-in (not on by default) and it is activated by your employer/org. Tracks what wifi networks the employee uses.

Protip: Have fun renaming your SSID!

I'm aware of it but as far as I can tell it doesn't have a substantive impact on my sales. I'm well enough known and my marketing is pretty good. Also, people have been doing this shit even before AI; Amazon was filled with "books" scraped from Wikipedia for years prior to this nonsense.
Sometimes, I forget about how heroic my dad’s actions were in Iraq. Thanks to The Giant Killer on Facebook for the reminder.

I am interested in starting to hear from care workers on SNAP about your concerns. I'm @motherjones.com's disability reporter. Please be in touch. My email is [email protected] and my Signal is juliametraux.49. Reposts are appreciated.

SOUTHERN REACH READERS and weirdlings in general, here's a call for lighthouse photo submissions if you want a chance to be in the forthcoming Area X: The Southern Reach Files book. Starts Nov. 1, ends Jan 21. PLEASE read thoroughly. Questions, weirdos?

People who are certain the GOP will rig the midterms need to be clear about what mechanisms they believe will be used to achieve that rigging. There are definitely ways they can seek to influence the elections, but I get the feeling people think there's a big "Rig It" lever in DC they can pull.
This was also my first "if you're not gonna parent your kid, I will" moment, and...yeah, if your kids are throwing balls at me and ripping toys out of my kid's hand, I'm gonna say something
Of course the kids being obnoxious little shits at the pool were the children of a dude wearing "don't tread on me" swim trunks
My best friend sent me a picture of her new piercing, and I appreciate the fact that she circled it so I could tell it apart from the seven others in her ear
Shit happens. Concerts get canceled. You are not owed anything other than your money back.
I understand being let down, truly. I will never get over missing out on My Chemical Romance opening for Muse or seeing Head Automatica live. But to complain about it publicly to the point that you’re offered free tickets and merch is ridiculous.
I go to a lot of concerts, and I’ve had a few canceled over the years. Before social media, you’d get an email from the ticketing company, and the artist might post a statement to their website explaining why. Now, people want full-blown apologies and take it personally.
At some point over the summer, my friends’ group chat started talking about a famous female artist who canceled a concert and got backlash for how she handled it. While I agreed it wasn’t great, I also said social media has made people expect way too much. This is exactly what I meant.

If you’re a man in the room and a public official says this about your female colleague, you don’t continue as if nothing happened.
Trump ignores a question from a woman reporter but says, "I just like to watch her talk. Good job. Thank you darling."
A listicle by me called, “I’m an avid concertgoer and these are the things I take with me every time,” but the list is just, my ID and a credit card shoved into whichever pocket they’ll fit in
Saw #FreakierFriday with my mom, and we both really liked it. It was funny and heartwarming, and—mild spoiler—I loved that the song Anna wrote was about Harper. It's not as good as the first, as few sequels are, but it's still much better than most other sequels.

This is an important point.

Everyone one of these people has been asked to leave their home, their family, and their job to work without pay bc of the shutdown. We're better off thinking of ways to make this backfire on Abbott than to treat them poorly.
Texas National Guard troops arriving in Chicago (via ABC News)

Remember: These are not MAGA stormtroopers. These are everyday teachers and accountants who signed up to serve their country with their spare time. They're being used as political pawns by venal, un-American, draft-dodging president
"Rejects," their new song, is a banger, too!
Good Charlotte's 'The Young and the Hopeless' truly had one banger after another, and I'm tired of pretending otherwise

I only make typos to blend in with the regular mortals
I started receiving an e-mail newsletter about spelling and grammar that I most certainly did not sign up for, and I'm convinced a salty Collider reader was responsible...but I genuinely enjoy reading it
So…it turns out this is probably the best thing that could’ve happened for my mental health, creativity, and even, to a certain degree, writing career, and if anyone tells my husband I admitted any of this publicly, I’ll say I was hacked
