What's wrong with America is the reality of America. You don't have a European-style social welfare system, free access - or at least semi-free access - to healthcare, free, or at least reasonably cheap third level education, meaningful gun regulation and a small military. On top - a weak democracy.

It's interesting that Cuba isn't in there. The degree of social inclusivity in Cuba and liberal access to healthcare there is off the scale by contrast to the US which has been actively blockading trade with Cuba since 1961. Americans are so out of any realistic conception of the modern world.

Europe here: Your country has been overtaken by a fascist regime. That's not the baddest thing - albeit it's pretty fucking bad. The REALLY bad thing is how so many Americans are just, "Well...it's bad, but it's not Nazi Germany".

It's not Nazi Germany, but that's exactly what Germans wanted.

It's interesting that within the first two generations of British settlers in Ulster in the period 1610 to 1660, in their correspondences to their relatives in Britain, Ireland was often referred to as 'Wolfland'. I absolutely love this term, but it is so sad that our Wolfland disappeared by 1700.

The problem that people like Clarkson have in criticising public healthcare in any European country, is that in nearly all cases, public healthcare is where you end up if it's a serious issue. The reason for this is that private clinics are simply that - clinics; they are not hospitals!
