Genre screenwriter. I love cinematic gore but real blood makes me woozy. First name rhymes with “scare ‘em.” (he/him)
Despite my distaste for digital de-aging, I really love this movie and think it’s quite powerful. A good one to watch with loved ones over the holidays. #filmsky

Just have to let @themountaingoats.bsky.social know that I was loudly singing along to Through This Fire Across from Peter Balkan while folding laundry, and now my three-year-old kid is running through the house shouting 🎶 “Sixteen on a fishing boat!” 🎶

I was very lucky to join Nate and John on this episode, and let me tell you, it’s chock full of screenwriting wisdom and advice. And some killer stories about true Hollywood legends. Check it out! #filmsky
Want to hear a great writer tell us never-before-shared stories about another great writer? As in... THE William Goldman? Want to see a never-before-seen document written by Goldman... about a movie that was once called "The Sundance Kid?"

Great thread. Unbelievably great movie. My god, what a loss.
When Harry Met Sally has an impeccable script, of course, but SO much of the comedy in that movie is in the directing. Where would Harry’s confession about his wife leaving him be without the wave interrupting it at a baseball game? Also, the most gorgeous fall shot in history?

So nice to read, in his own words, Rob Reiner’s thoughts on why each of his films were personal to him, and the thematic connections he saw between them. #filmsky
Rob Reiner Explains Why There's No Such Thing as a 'Rob Reiner Movie'
It's a product of a very, very confuse, twisted mind, jokes Rob Reiner when he's asked why it's so hard to peg him down as a filmmaker. When you hear the name Martin Scorsese associated with a film (w...

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

What a fucking gut punch it is to hear about Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele. The man made the gold standard of damn near every genre he approached. Coming of age movies all try to measure up to Stand By Me, mockumentaries to Spinal Tap, rom-coms to When Harry Met Sally.

Water’s the craziest thing that we hardly ever talk about. We have to drink it to live? It’s everywhere and it’s wet and you can swim in it? It falls from the sky? And when it gets cold it turns into ice?! Wild.

Honestly, we might need to start referring to the making of this movie as Who-pocalypse Now because of the monumental suffering and the sheer determination exhibited by Ron Howard, Jim Carrey, and all the cast, makeup artists, and others to bring this singular creation into being. #filmsky

Screenwriting and storytelling are all about the emotion. Make the reader feel something.

But remember, "That's f**king cool!" is also an emotion.

While it's a challenge to sustain a whole movie with that, there are moments where it's more than enough.
