I've always been tired of "Both sides are the same"/"Democrats are right-wing" rhetoric, but never had at-a-glance datasets to point at to debunk it.

Today I found one.

This analyzes party lean by actual voting record.

It's the reverse tone policing where they want every Democrat to spell everything out explicitly and use only one-syllable words along with a minimum quota of cursing.

FWIW I am a "reality has a leftist bias" person as I find when you follow truth you really *do* end up with "Rockefeller Republican" being about as far right as you get.

But honestly what I'm primarily saying is the process is hard as the people we need don't care about changing Repubs, only Dems.

The problem is that every single third party is focused on beating the *Democrats*, not Republicans.

As it'd be ideal to have Rockefeller Repubs and moderate Dems in one party while progressive Dems join far leftists in another, but zero third parties are interested in working towards that.

There is a short term crisis and a long term crisis, the long term being that we only have two real parties and one of them is wholly corrupted.

We have got to have a second real party, and the GOP can’t be salvaged; a whole generation of politicians is complicit.

Reminder to everyone that if Trump and his administration succeed in changing this country over the coming year the way they're trying, it's not going to matter if he dies.

When Trump kicks the bucket, no one on the right is going to say "okay, I guess now we'll go back to democratic rule."

Basically, America as a whole needs to be willing to vote for Democrats until Republicans stop being fundamentally evil.

As conservatives need to start being forced to vote for the comparatively more reasonable Republicans in the primaries if they want to stand a chance of beating Democrats.

This is an essential. "Democrats need to beat the Trumpists in elections that we ensure are free" is the best strategy for the next 2-4 years. But it is not a long-term strategy! The only possible long-term strategy is that someone else needs to defeat the Trumpists for control of the Repub Party.

Ironically that's why Biden commuted death sentences: Because Catholicism *actually is* pro-life.

As much as I disagree with the anti-abortion stances, Catholic doctrine actually does follow the whole package there of every single life-preserving stance versus only being pro-birth.

Hot take: We're living through why Democrats should not have removed the filibuster.

Especially since both parties removing the filibuster on judicial nominees is most of how we got conservative courts.

Cabinet nominees and budget bills only needing 51 votes is also more of how we got here.
