Democrats are furious that the Trump Administration held a briefing on Capitol Hill today about U.S. military strikes on suspected drug boats. Only Republicans were invited. This is from Sen. Mark Warner D-VA.

EXCLUSIVE: The Trump administration threatened Ohio with “costly litigation” unless it bans the counting of ballots that arrive after Election Day. The move underscores the president’s broader effort to disenfranchise large numbers of voters by eliminating mail ballot grace periods.

BREAKING: Democrats just tried to pass a standalone bill to fund WIC & SNAP to make sure families don't go hungry during the Republican shutdown.

Republicans BLOCKED it. So Trump won't use emergency funds to keep SNAP running, and Republicans won't let any bills pass. Shameful.

Patel's girlfriend performed at Penn State last weekend. A government jet arrived at State College Regional Airport, according to its FAA registration, with an address listing the FBI HQ. The plane then flew to Nashville, where his girlfriend lives.

All on the taxpayer’s dime.

Welch: "This has nothing to do with the shutdown. The law requires and the funds are available to continue SNAP right now without any interruption. So that is a decision the president is making on his own to allow people to go hungry."

New from me on @lawfaremedia.org: how Trump violated the law to pay the military.

It's a long piece that goes into why it's illegal (with helpful analogies), what other abuses this unlocks if you believe presidents should have this power, what recourse there is, etc.
How Trump Violated the Law to Pay the Military
The president spent research and development money to pay the troops, violating appropriations law and a slew of other statutes.

What a disgrace. And what an embarrassment for @cnn.com.
Scoop: During a trip to DC last week, CNN CEO Mark Thompson made a visit to the White House, where he promoted the network’s new streamer

Staffers were taken aback the next morning when Thompson urged them to ease up on East Wing renovation coverage

Trump didn’t just take billions of taxpayer dollars and give it to Argentina with no legal process to help a politician he likes avoid losses in domestic elections and hook up a billionaire he knows who made a bad bet on Argentina.

He gave away billions of Americans’ money and it didn’t even work.
Things are not going well in Argentina, official exchange rate has now decoupled from the market-implied exchange rate to the tune of about 8%

Health insurance costs jumped for workers & employers in 2025.

This will get worse if the GOP refuses to extend ACA subsidies.

Meanwhile, the seven largest health insurance companies made a combined $71B in profits in 2024.

Still not sure we need Medicare for All?

HB6 should have taught us that corporations can't buy our democracy. Instead? FirstEnergy just won the right to hide more evidence of corruption. A Sixth Circuit ruling lets them shield their internal docs from shareholders and the public claiming "attorney-client privilege." https://bit.ly/48Jzhlk

There is no difference between Trump destroying the East Wing and using a wrecking ball on the Washington Monument or Smithsonian. Just because he (temporarily) lives there doesn't give him the right to demolish the White House without Congressional approval.

The optics of Trump building a ballroom that 99.9% of Americans will never set foot in while millions line up for food banks are worth more than any policy paper or economic proposal. This image is a visceral punch in the mouth that needs no words. It should haunt the GOP for a generation.
