Make a list of the most regressive, most impulsively reactionary, most aggressively backward-looking bullshit you can think of and be certain that the people who are controlling the US government are going for it.

They will not rest until everything that smells vaguely "progressive" is erased.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

I spent all day editing photos of my latest batch of pottery & took advantage of the picturesque autumn situation in my yard for some of the creatures, including these wee raccoons! 🦝 💕 Stay tuned for a load of new photos soon!

Joanna Ho and Caroline Kusin Pritchard, authors of THE DAY THE BOOKS DISAPPEARED, had their elementary school author visit canceled when they arrived and students were waiting for them.

Why? Because they wouldn't *not* talk about book bans–inspiration for their book.

I feel like I'm banging this drum ad infinitum, but: tattoo artists generally stay literate about various hate symbols, and reputable shops refuse to knowingly apply them, because they don't want to attract *that* kind of clientele. It takes proactive effort to find a shop that will do so.
I agree. It was waaaaay too specific to do a random request like that.

Norstein was much admired by both Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki. There was an interview on the #StudioGhibli website that Goro Miyazaki did with him.

Anyone who follows @majnouna.com knows she is a phenomenal artist and scholar at the cutting edge of experimental archaeology. This book holds illustrated guides to all the medieval ink recipes she's managed to recreate. I really want a copy, so please support her kickstarter to print a new edition!
Is there anyone on Bsky who remembers this book? It's been out of print for a while, because it needs revising in the light of 5 more years of research & experience (including a proper translation of Umdat ul-Kuttab). Being unpaid work, I've simply not been able to prioritise this, so I've decided…

Teorema (1968) does an excellent job of showcasing how exquisite and horrifying (and hot) angels can be.
Teorema (1968) inspired me to do gesture drawings tonight. I love sketching out wrinkles, folds, and eyes.

might be one of the funniest videos i’ve ever seen
Also, this film does a good job of showing how gorgeous brown eyes are. Like, yes, Terence Stamp's blue eyes are preternaturally beautiful.

But the film also does this way of shooting the brown-eyed actors where you get lost in their gazes too, especially as how shadow and light dances across them.
Watching Teorema (1968) and I find it relatable. I too would submit to Terence Stamp.
