The "sociopolitican and economic contexts of both pandemics" section includes a line, in this peer reviewed paper, saying no, we're not. And in fact people with long covid are regularly gaslit by healthcare profession.

Sadly a giant dragon isn't appearing as I pull out this "card". Dammit.

As for wrist braces and compression gloves...Trying different materials would be good, potentially finding thin gloves to wear with.

Also sometimes I just can't with textures until I'm less overwhelmed, so reducing stressors in environment as much as you can is something that can help

If you can find a local place or visit this one at a ren faire, great! But if not, I've enjoyed both corsets I've gotten from this place. It's expensive, and if worn regularly I would reccomend doing core exercises to keep those muscles strong, but still. Very helpful.

(Having an underlayer also helps with capturing sweat so there's less of that irritant plus it keeps the actual compression item cleaner longer.)

Oh! Speaking of back brace/corset, while I have and use both, I can be in the corset longer as the pressure is more evenly distributed.

In my case it's more "fibro translates pressure into pain" and "brain not having certain textures" so it's more nerve related buuuuuut...

Cotton or as close to it that you can get tank top under backbrace/corset helps reduce those issues with that.

Please, read this. It's a bit dense at parts, and I do encourage looking up terms you're unfamiliar with. I know I regularly have to remind myself what the hell a cytokine is.

But overall, it's very readable, brings up good points, and recognizes that those calling for mitigations have a point.

Most of the people I know that folks to mask are usually asking for it to be done so in public. By public folks usually mean indoor locations or large gatherings of people. They ask this because source control is infinitely more effective than filtering at the destination. 1/

What bothers me about current discussions is that they paint folks (usually disabled) trying to avoid infection as merely fearful. That we are not analyzing the situation as it is; that indeed many of us are doing so specifically because we are suffering long term issues from infection(s). 3/

Am I afraid? Of course I am! I'm afraid specifically because of what has happened to myself and friends, but what is currently happening to people (especially children). Long COVID has become more common that asthma among young children. That SHOULD scare you. 4/

I am not simply afraid & therefore assessing risk poorly. I am afraid (& doing something about it) because I have assessed the risks, the outcomes, & directly felt the outcomes myself.

Masking could be much less necessary if we cared to get boosted and cleaned the air but we are not doing that. 5/

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

Fortunately we were both vaxxed so that's likely a huge reason why the infection ended up being asymptomatic. But long covid can occur even with asymptomatic infections.

And of course there were a couple people who thought all they needed was a vaccine so "why are you wearing a mask"?

And it makes me so frustrated because roughly a few months ago I was even considering going to that theatre again for a different comedian. But, well, we were too fatigued to even go to pride.

And while doing better, it's still HARD, and who knows what may crop up.
