If I was a dick to you online in recent years then I apologize.

I didn't know or understand my own limitations but I'm getting a grasp on them. I allowed social media to shape my engagement with others in really unhealthy ways that made existing issues worse.

Not doing that anymore.

You don't have to judge Columbus by the standards of today. His tenure as governor of Hispaniola was so horrific that he was dragged back to Spain in chains to answer for his many crimes.

Plus he never set foot on any land that would ever be a part of the United States of America.

You'd end up with a plurality of identities instead of trying to appeal to one singular totalizing identity. I think that's probably a more resilient society.

You can say that but I'm also skeptical of that given the general lack of success that seems to have had.

I think it's probably more effective to help people learn to think and allow them to identify who and what they identify with themselves.

Today was a good day for me to be listening to analysis of Nietzsche's Will to Power.

Personally I'm becoming increasingly skeptical of appeals to "the people" or "the working class".

If the group you're meant to be targeting doesn't already have a sense of shared identity then I'm skeptical.

Hard to get "the people" to fight fascism when "the people" support so many tenets of fascism. The folks looked up the definition and said "yeah...get THEM." You not articulate enough to convince them that they're also "them."

This is exactly why I say wearing a mask is an act of resistance.

They want us sick.

They want us weak.

They want many of us dead.

Get your vaccines if able, but adding a high quality respirator like an N95 can prevent many airborne contagions.
