I say this because all those morons in that group chat aren't kids. They're young adults, you shouldn't let a 25 year old racist off the hook because they're just kids being kids.

Gonna stress out all day that I've outed myself as a former young Republican (I voted for fucking Bob Dole in my first presidential election, gross). I do want to be very clear that I have no idea when exactly my brain went woke, but it was somewhere around when I turned 20 or 21.

Absolutely, and when I was in the middle of it I didn't consider myself racist or sexist at all. These were just jokes, what you can't take a joke? I literally thought I was doing no harm, while actively doing harm.

You ask any of these young conservative goblins and I'm sure they'd say the same.

Just so y'all know, it's not like I take pride in this. I don't come on here and openly brag that I was a garbage person (I mean I still am but for wildly different reasons than this) and look at how far I've come. I just know a lot about growing up in an affluent conservative Christian culture.

Just a counter point. I went to a private Christian school for 12 years in the 80s and 90s and there were young conservatives that absolutely talked like this. My good friends talked like this. Fuck.. I talked like this.

For those tempted to say Young Republicans have always been this way, they really have not. When I worked on campus and did bipartisan college events after, they were very much not like this.

That’s why groups like YCT and eventually TPUSA formed — because Young Republicans weren’t radical enough.

Like it sucks y'all, I grew up a pretty shitty kid when it came to politics. Now maybe in the late 90s and early 2000s this behavior was frowned up and was suppressed in public, but nothing in any of these chats surprised me one bit.

Yeah, I wanna say 3 years ago I finally decided I was going to budget for commissions at all the big shows I go to. I've only had one I've been disappointed in, but overall it's definitely been a positive experience.
