I think the second part of this is where the work starts. We really have to move away from dating only as a stepping stone to marriage and start viewing it as a gateway for connections.
We have to start with the understanding that those connections do not ultimately HAVE TO BE romantic.

If the intent isn’t a monogamous relationship leading to marriage, they don’t even want to attempt to form a connection of any kind, which I can respect. But then what?

We can’t move away from
deprioritizing romantic connection with that being the “standard” approach to forming connections.

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.
