"Vanilla ice cream" as a synonym for "boring" completely falls apart when you literally show the vanilla ice cream cone, which looks fucking delicious

How did we let "vanilla" come to mean "boring" anyway. Vanilla rocks

I think specifically they're calling them "vanilla" but they never spell it out.
Garchomp is in Pikmin?!
There's dragons in Pikmin???

Job update time! Today was my first day as Larian Studios' new Storytelling Lead! It's wild to be back in an office fulltime for the first time in more than a decade -- and in another country to boot -- but it's wonderful to find community so far from home.

Can’t believe Crash Team Racing is now 26 years old.
Me with Yotei for real. I can't wait to replay the game in HDR with Japanese Cinema turned on!
Rivet not apologizing for me is a "Doylist" thing. That is, I suspect it's because the third act was significantly scaled back, compromising that story beat.

The dimensions stuff... the story could have worked without that, so to change it just feels disrespectful to the lore for no reason.
Is that like a Far Cry ending?
It's a small change but this structure completely fucks with the Lombax lore. Because now EVERY SINGLE DIMENSION has Lombaxes who were forced to flee and leave someone behind, just an endless loop of an endless amount of them (infinite dimensions, as stated by IRIS). It didn't have to be like this.
Rift Apart makes it so that EVERY dimension is just an alternate of the familiar one. We visit three of these (Rivet's, Blizar Prime and Cordelia), but they're mirrors, almost exactly so. Famously, Rivet's has alternates of Ratchet, Clank, Nefarious and Qwark. Is every dimension like that?
As for the parallel universes, that isn't what was established in the PS3 games, "infinite dimensions" were. The second half of the Tachyon fight took place in one of these, but we're not led to assume that it's an alternate of Ratchet's dimension, it was totally unique (mostly by being empty).
More than that, Rivet never truly grows out of the "parallel Ratchet" trope and still exists within that box. It's rather different from other Lombaxes like Angela and Azimuth, or even Kit who is the Clank equivalent but is a very different character.
Okay, strap in, this is a lot to unpack!

The Rivet critique stems from her insulting Ratchet over his hesitance to meet the Lombaxes, something that she doesn't properly address and apologize for. I feel this stems from the story's third act having to be cut back.
There's always been something non-consensual about the way Nintendo games just thrust the player character into the story and gameplay. Z-A just has Taunie derail whatever you were in town for, and E. Gadd never ONCE asks for Luigi's consent in Dark Moon!
I agree. I'm always very happy when a game is "More of the Thing I Loved". I feel this may be a symptom of just how many 10/10 games we have (and rising prices) that an 8/10 sequel is not worth the time or money anymore.
I have many critiques of Pokemon, but the outfit design has never, EVER missed.

Y’all have GOT to stop uncritically sharing Stealth’s posts without checking your sources!

I can’t find a source for when and where Miyamoto supposedly said this or who translated it ANYWHERE and yet my timeline is flooded with takes on it.
It's the new "A delayed game is..."
GDI. Un-liked, hate this reality
