Random comics thing that makes me happy: I’m rereading last week’s Lazarus and I love what I’m guessing @airy.bsky.social did with the speech bubbles here. It conveys in such a fun what the characters trying to talk and it getting jumbled in a sandstorm.

Pretty much exactly what I'm doing now.
Except I won't have to wonder if I can afford new socks ever again.
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

I feel like the unabomber, but surge pricing really is going to make me shop exclusively in farmer's markets and only in cash.
November 29, 2025 at 11:00 PM
It's silly, but this is why I like doing my shopping secondhand. Clothes furniture etc.

I don't know if I'll want anything, but if I DO want something, I'll know it when I see it.

And if a thing I actually needed isn't there then 'oh well, I guess I get to hang on to my money a little longer.'
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

There is no such thing as unskilled labor.
As you’re preparing for your Thanksgiving meal, remember the skilled work it took to get that food to your grocery store.

Tell us your favorite Thanksgiving dish, and we can share some of what we know about the work behind the ingredients.

Also can I interest you in a graphic novel I made? It’s about a therapist for ghosts who deals with burnout and must learn the power of boundaries and self-care 👻

Everyone wanting to write AND draw their own graphic novel needs to look at this, and plan your finances/side-gigs accordingly.

The advance money reeeeally doesn't go as far as you think it does.
Here’s some math courtesy of Nate Powell to keep in mind when signing that graphic novel deal. #comics

White people.

The agents could have conserved most of a whole breath by saying “These are white folks.”

If you're new to cooking or don't trust yourself to recognize a bad AI recipe, for the love on god, do not just use random recipes from random profiles. Find trustworthy sites and creators (Serious Eats, NYT Cooking, J. Kenji Lopez-Alt, Alton Brown) and search their archives for what you need.
NEW: AI “recipe slop” is overrunning search and social. Food creators say Google’s AI Overviews and glossy fake food pics are drowning out real, tested recipes — collapsing traffic and setting home cooks up for disaster, especially this Thanksgiving.
