I have gone from zero interest to "well, if it hits one of the streaming services I'm already subscribed to I might check it out" based on this post.

Honestly, that's for the best. 🧡

This week in 1988: 1,000+ ACT UP demonstrators shut down the FDA headquarters, demanding (and eventually winning) action on developing HIV/AIDS treatments. ACT UP's militant and creative actions always included powerful visual artwork, and paved the way for movements in the decades to come.
A photograph from the 1988 ACT UP demonstration outside the FDA. Many people are participating in a die-in on the front steps, holding mock tombstones with messages like "RIP - killed by the FDA" and "Dead from lack of drugs." A line of police officers (some with classic 80s mustaches) wearing riot helmets stands between them and the building; one cop wearing white gloves is walking through the demonstrators. Affixed to the 2nd story windows of the building is a series of posters and a large blank banner reading Silence = Death.

May I suggest an army of anglerfish for those still considering their options?
A blue inflatable anglerfish costume A black and bright blue inflatable anglerfish costume that looks closer to something from a 1960s b-movie Five different inflatable anglerfish costumes, each a different color, being modeled by people outaide in a large area of grass.

I've had a woodpecker nemesis this summer. He's been destroying the soffit and I've replaced the same section twice because of his stupid beak.

I love this article in The Guardian about a punk scene in the UK made up of menopausal women. I wish they had links to their music. I’ll have to look them up in the morning.

While providing tech support for my FIL:

FIL: What's that screen?

ME: The terminal. You should never use it.

FIL: Never?

ME: So you know how I'm allowed to watch you open the electrical panel and swap out breakers, but I'm not allowed to ever open up it myself?

FIL: Ah! I understand, thank you.

My daughter and I made good use of those when they were offered! That was such a great program.

I've been playing with watercolor pencils tonight and they kind of remind me of those water paint books from the 80s.

Stilts!

I am not a baseball fan. I find attending baseball games about as fun as snaking a clogged drain. (This in no way is a slam against people who like baseball because I do understand the appeal. For others. Not me.).

That said, I would absolutely watch a Twins game if they all were on stilts.

(it was unrelated to weight)

I still havent responded to that doc bc I can't form a sentence that does not involve swear words or name calling.

I got my first "have you tried losing weight about it" regarding kidney function labs that were drawn because of a lupus flare from a doc I don't usually see. Bitch I have lupus. The disease notorious for fucking up kidneys. My care team messaged & told me what I ACTUALLY need to do.

Many sea stars begin life as young fairy-like creature (called a brachiolaria) that float through the open ocean. Eventually, a small star forms within them (here in yellow). The fairy-like brachiolaria sinks under the star’s weight, and the star pops out!

Your images are not being stolen by some nefarious Bluesky AI bot.

Machine learning has been used for years to ensure a human does not have to be flooded with heinous imagery.

I only had to moderate CSAM once back when I did community management and it fucked me up for ages.

Stop chatting shit.

I am getting a strong urge to start using a paper planner again and I am still trying to figure out if it's because of the seasons changing to autumn (back to school vibes), adhd brain, or if I'm just fully burnt out from screens.
