With multiple procedural steps and potential derailment points still ahead in order to actually end the shutdown, you cannot overlook the fact that this president and these Republicans are more fumble-prone than any politicians in history.

I am proud that my legal team and I are leading the fight in this case against the Republican Party’s effort to throw out lawful ballots. Everyone needs to recognize this as the next step in the GOP plan to ban mail-in voting entirely and to eventually target early voting as well.

I got back to my office after the vote last night and recorded this. There's no way to sugarcoat what happened. And my fear is that Trump gets stronger, not weaker, because of this acquiescence. I'm angry - like you. But I choose to keep fighting.

I am so weary of running around explaining contemporary politics to Democratic senators but Trump has taken the power of the purse from Congress and has made good on his promise to not fund anything he doesn't want to so "guaranteeing a vote in the Senate" is not a thing.

Democrats, you have fully lost your damn minds. You don't give a damn inch to bullies. Period.
Trump: "We'll never agree to give any substantial money or any money to prisoners, illegals. And I think the Democrats understand that. And it looks like we're getting close to the shutdown ending."

Tennessee’s 7th can keep feeding GOP cruelty or help real people. This one seemingly small election is going to decide if people starve (SNAP benefits), live (ACA subsidies) and protect pedophiles (Epstein). This is not about (D) vs (R) it's your moment in history to stand up for what is right.

They couldn't cave before the elections last week, because then Dem voters would be angry with them and might not turn out. They're counting on folks forgetting about the surrender before primary season kicks in.

Agree with this.

About to publish something on the airplane mess. But this too is ON THE REPUBS. It is not a reason to cave. Dems, it is a time to keep standing up.
Opening the government with no concessions from GOP merely to alleviate airline cancellations - when Congress has been dragging its feet for years on chronic FAA staffing issues - is a lame ass choice.

Also, doing it while the House refuses to work is appalling.

Calling them to leave voice mails is what needs to be done.

The Epstein Files shutdown needs to end with concessions from the party of Pedophile Protection.

Let the Republicans be aware that they're responsible for this. They chose third of a billion on a ballroom rather than feeding kids.

Everyone will remember that the last deal came with a "promise" for a vote on something that the Senate Ds making the deal cared about (DC funding) which Johnson threw in the trash. Dunno why theyd expect a promise on a healthcare subsidies vote to be any different.

This isn’t a deal. It’s a betrayal.

This means among other things, that our awaiting reps can be seated.

But it also means that Senate Republicans betrayed Trump.

He wants them to pass the clean CR by nuclear option because he wrongly thinks he'll be able to end mail in voting.

But regardless, it means the Senate betrayed him.

The ONLY way this "deal" (taken with several grains of salt) ends the shutdown is if it's identical to the house version.

The alleged "cave" by the GOP staff regurgitators at Axios is nowhere close to the house bill.

Which means it forces Johnson to convene the house to vote on it.

So what happens?

Well, the likelihood of the House GOP passing this bill is between 0 and absolute 0. It would be seen as a betrayal by THEIR base.

But it does mean that Dems get the 218th discharge vote for the Epstein files.

It also means that Dems can filibuster the NEXT House bill.
