Will die on niche hills, windows always open.
Libraries, archives, preservation, art, turtles, Chicago, bricks, the desert.
Oh ok "but no works of art were affected" just papers. Have fun with your "art" when there's no provenance documentation.

Managing up, managing sideways, managing down - but what about that invisible middle manager and how she might just lay down in her cubicle and groan like Marge Simpson for a year or two.

My conspiracy theory is that the board of trustees forced Schill to resign in order to install an 87-year-old former NU president as interim in order to capitulate.
Bienen is living in fantasy land if he believes that a deal dictating a bunch of rules about admissions and hiring that go well beyond what the law actually requires amounts to preserving control over admission and hiring. Or he thinks the faculty are illiterate

Columbia and Northwestern are the academic homes to the most prestigious journalism schools in the country and they are the two universities that caved to the Trump administration’s extortion demands that are directly connected to the First Amendment. Just gonna sit with that for a while.

The federal blitz moved to Charlotte, but the trauma and damage in Chicago are still with us—and DHS says 1,000 agents will hit our streets in March. I wrote about what this moment demands of us: care, clarity, and preparation.
What Now, Chicago? Regrouping After Midway Blitz

outside of individual donations to gofundmes and such, one helpful destination for your money right now is this bond fund. everyone being released from broadview needs to pay $1500 bond, which is obviously insane. it's going to cost like $925k to successfully spring 615 people linktr.ee/mw_bondfund

You probably saw videos of a nighttime raid in Chicago. Agents rappelling from a helicopter, bursting down doors, questioning brown-skinned immigrants.

We investigated -- and found little evidence to support the government’s claims about Tren de Aragua.

New from 404 Media: people are 3D-printing whistles to warn each other about the presence of ICE. Some people make designs and upload them; others are given a design and are printing hundreds and hundreds of whistles at home. It's been effective in Chicago
