Mamdani has put on a masterclass in how to deal with opposition trying to raise the salience of non-issues, particularly making every race about an out group. Assert your values (dignity for all), repeat your core position (city needs to be affordable), then draw contrast (coumo sucks).
I really hope a couple of investigative journalists have joined and will publish behind the scenes reports in the near future.
NBC News finds that:
-- ICE has shortened its training from 13 weeks to six.
-- Nearly half of recruits couldn’t pass an open-book written exam.
-- Recruits "are supposed to attest" they can pass the physical-fitness test, which requires them to run ... 6 mph.

We're launching a portal to review federal immigration enforcement in New York after yesterday’s ICE raid on Canal Street.

New Yorkers who were present should submit videos or photos, and we will review and investigate any violations of the law.

Reason 3,438 we need local law enforcement to be part of the communities they police, and to be tasked with enforcement of crimes against people. Officers should view agents attacking citizens as offenders, not allies.
Here's an update on the case of Byron Rovidio Marin, whose leg ICE broke back in August and whom they kept under 24/7 guard while he was in the hospital.

It sounds like he's still AT the hospital.

If the Dem establishment did not actively work against Mamdani even after the primary I would give them some deference here. Nazi tattoos are disqualifying, but from where I sit they opposed him because of his economic positions threatening corporate donors.

Historians of the future: Rest assured, millions of us know all this in real time. We are horrified, shocked, enraged, and ashamed. We are acting, in a thousand ways, to oppose it. This cannot, and will not, be how the United States ends. trib.al/EOixNrF

Swearing in isn’t some ceremony. You aren’t a member of Congress until it happens. He knows that.

No phones, no staff, nothing.

I had to escort her into the Capitol on Wed bc Capitol police must treat her as a public visitor until she’s sworn in. And solo visitors aren’t allowed during shutdown!
Johnson: "Grijalva should be working for her constituents right now. I don't know what she's doing. I keep seeing their political stunt videos. She should be in her office. She should be working or in the district for her constituents" (Grijalva is not in fact a Rep. b/c Johnson refuses to seat her)

“No Kings equals no paychecks.”

There is no better distillation of the spirit of owners exploiting people who work. We’ve been propagandized to believe in plantation owners are job creators.
Bessent: "This crazy No Kings rally this weekend, which is gonna be the farthest left, the hardest core, the most unhinged in the Democratic Party, which is a big title. No Kings equals no paychecks."
Even worse, she couldn’t reach it.
If federal agents do not have statutory authority to do the horrific shit that’s SOP for them now, local and state law enforcement have to be tasked with enforcing the actual law and protecting residents. It may not end well, but we’ve gotta try.
At some point, a Democrat, somewhere, is going to have to exert operational control over their own law enforcement officers and leverage them to protect their *own* residents instead of protecting federal agents

This is good. The framing needs to be that they are doing capital-E evil. Trump and friends use language like “terrorist” and “enemy”, we need more explicit callouts that those in their service are doing evil and will be judged.
Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.
...that [ICE] can't do all of the [atrocities] against our [people] because they have no bandwidth financially to do so.

We want to put them in trauma.”
“We want [ICE] to be traumatically affected. When they wake up in the morning, we want them to not want to go to work because they are increasingly viewed as the villains. We want their funding to be shut down so...

I feel like a broken record, but I have to keep saying it over and over again: a farmer bailout won’t do much of anything because the market is gone. There will be no incentive to plant next year.

The bailout will help payoff farmer debt to the banks. That’s all.
The sad part is, I would bet that game would make buckets of cash (if it was at least pretty fun). The bigots would keep it in the zeitgeist and plenty of big streamers would be incentivized to feature it.
It's now considered controversial to fight the KKK in a video game.

Incredible.

Jack Posobiec references the earliest version of antifa -- the anti-fascists in the Weimar Republic who were opposed to the Nazi Party -- as the bad guys.
It appears border patrol and ICE have purged anyone with integrity or intent to uphold their oaths. Not that the agency was a hallmark of virtue before, but if they are retaliating against citizens by hunting and trying to kill them, things are about to get much worse.

Hegseth to the Navy: "Your diversity is not your strength"
5/ ICE is hiring thugs who want to hurt people and who want to escalate. They will tear a child in half if it means they can lock up a brown person. I met some of these guys while I worked in law enforcement. They are violent and evil and they have been waiting for their chance to don the hood.
4/ That other officer was not stupid, but he was immature. He had a fair bit of training, but not nearly enough in de-escalation. He was not an officer looking for opportunities to harm people or control them, but he also wasn't equipped to handle that situation.
3/ I called a timeout, sat down with the woman and talked through the court order with her. I convinced her that her best chance of getting custody of her child back was going to court rather than trying to physically stop CPS and law enforcement.
