In 1917, during 3rd Ypres, 11/Northumberland Fusiliers returned to the front lines after a brief rest and took over from the 13/Durham Light Infantry. C company, with 2/Lt. L.W. Ablett and 2/Lt. E.D. Bruty, went in support trenches near Reutel on 12 Oct.

I can tell you as someone who works on early medieval manuscripts, some of those books were not read. Over a thousand years ago they were killing a whole herd of cattle to make a book that sat on a plinth and looked pretty, so some bishop could say 'yes I have that text in my library'. So good luck

The veneration of Books As Objects misses the point entirely. If you're reading a book, turn the corners down, break the spine, spill soup on it. It's your book, go nuts. A pristine, unread book is a tragedy in a way that a beloved, much-read book that looks like the dog's been at it could never be.

The Battle of Queenston Heights

OTD 1812 forces of the Crown & Six Nations soundly repulse an American invasion of Upper Canada at the Lewiston-Queenston crossing.

Despite the loss of respected British general, Isaac Brock, the victory invigorates his majesty’s subjects to defend their Canada.

Thanks for helping out on Saturday! Good to have you around.

Great to have you around! And indeed, Nick and Jan are amazing :-)

Sell them; use the money to buy painted miniatures ;-) Unless you really enjoy painting and think you will do that soon enough to be able to play before new releases obsolete your army (list)
jurdj.bsky.social
Have you considered buying a second hand army. There's quite a few shops and online stores offering them now. Also, ebay. If it's about playing rather than painting, you might be faster this way. Prices seem ok, but maybe some of these armies lack the fancy heroes / monsters etc

I made it to the Hartenstein Hotel Airborne Museum with two of my boys. A brilliant afternoon game of Chain of Command at Nick and Jan's table #SpreadtheLard

Exceptionally well, with a bit if luck. It survived a PIAT to the side. But it took out a Vickers, blocked a JOP and helped secure it by infantry. I believe it then also seriously ruined a Para section
