this reminds me of the Bridgerton response and how people were so confused that the main characters *changed* after season one, like writing essays about why that was a bad choice

which seems like a logical thing to them, but an *insane* thing to say to anyone who understands genre romance.
but this? shut the fuck up. guess what, my man, gorgeous young 22 year olds like to fuck. And queer people deserve love stories that are sexy and horny. a "chaste kiss" please be for real.

Oh this makes me so sad. Seeing Arcadia—with no idea what it was about—remains my most transcendent moment of theater.
Goodbye to the master.

Gasp-inducing moment in this ep as we discover it's rassle not wrassle. Why did I, too, think it started with a w?!? My word nerd brain is broke!
The end of the year is nigh, and it's our holiday romance novel episode! We're talking about a collection of romances that are entirely new to us (except for the one moment where Sarah talks about that old McNaught short story that installed all her cold-weather romance buttons).

Ahhhhhhh I loved this book and it's out now!
SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE is warm, cozy, & out today. I hope you love it! 💗

The story: A cranky baker's erroneous obituary brings the woman who got away back into his life--& now he needs to convince her to stay.
The heat level: steamy!
The baked goods: plentiful!

Your Jewish friends would really like you to read this thread.
I cannot overemphasize that Marjorie Taylor Greene, Carlson, and Fuentes see a 2028 path to victory that involves building an isolationist populist coalition that traffics heavily in antisemitism and exploits existing negative sentiment against Israel.

We have to be SHARP on the left right now.

authors you have the chance to do the funniest thing right now

Yep. Professional writers know they need an editor. Aspiring professional writers know they need an editor. It's only the wannabes and corner-cutters who think they can skip this step. (You can't.)

Editors have a really hard job, and the good ones can make something unreadable readable, and the great ones can make something unreadable into something good. But they're basically invisible, until someone tries to write without one.

Afterglow is doing a pivot? Stephanie Boyd is still leading editorial but they’re asking for different manuscripts, after cancelling a bunch of contracted books not that long ago. Maybe wait to find out more info before sending your manuscripts into this maelstrom.
They definitely never closed their submissions page, I know that for sure! But their new release page had been frozen for months. Now it's all updated, and they're looking for different stuff. From Oct 29:

Great ep—I'm not just saying that because I edited Katie Reus's Falling for Nola, which manages to be a great little short where the h/h *don't* know each other before pg 1.

Also I just started Ladies in Waiting—it's delightful. Justice (and happy endings!) for Jane Austen's other ladies!
We definitely have a hope-became-reality hangover this morning, but we also have a very fun episode for you today! We're talking romance shorts -- not novellas, not short novels, but actual short stories under 15,000 words (or about 50 pages).

BURY HIM FACE DOWN. 👏
"Bury him face down." This barn burner of an obit might feel hyperbolic to people who entered the world in the wake of 9/11; it's not. Cheney was one of the architects of today's American Christian conservatism. He was directly responsible for millions of deaths. Salt the earth where he's buried.
