Which is another thing I think is going on: Trump’s increasingly infirm appearance in public is causing everybody to think about what they’ll do after he’s dead, and this is part of what’s fracturing his coalition.

I see this mostly as "Rivian is humoring Wall Street". Robotaxis will turn out to be a dumb low-margin-high-hassle business for any company not named Waymo, I suspect.
NEW: Rivian is adding self-driving capability to its EVs -- including laser lidar -- and may eventually jump into the robotaxi space #rivian #selfdrivingvehicles www.forbes.com/sites/alanoh...

This is spot on. And if you aren't familiar with how Rhodesia operated, spend a few minutes learning.
People keep wondering why they're going after Venezuela. It's because they want to do regime change and control its oil, then use a big tract of land there to keep a tax free "network state" that looks like Dubai but operates like Rhodesia. They are saying this out loud! Believe them!

OG Chic -- Nile, Bernard, and Tony, with either Luci and Alfa or Norma -- might be the tightest and funkiest band that has ever walked this planet. So good.
Chic hits #1 today in 1978 with “Le Freak”, a song originally titled “F**k Off!” — and written after the band was turned away by the bouncers at Studio 54.

“We go back to my apartment really pissed off,” said Nile Rodgers, “and Bernard starts singing, ‘Ahhh, f**k off!’ .. and that became the hook.”

We restored a 280 ragtop at the garage bitd. I can’t possibly convey the level of craftsmanship here. The inside of the glovebox was leather. The dash was burled walnut iirc. You don’t really own a car like that; you’re a caretaker for future generations.

Folks underestimate this dynamic: broader moral questions notwithstanding, people spend entire careers trying to land a WH gig.

Trump has already shown a willingness to cut entire publications out just for not using his terms.

And if you lose your gig, where do you go in a struggling industry?
They know their jobs will be toast if they talk back to POTUS. The suits at these news orgs will absolutely NOT have their backs.

If we're really going back to internal combustion, I just want a fun sedan with a zingy straight-six and a manual transmission.

But I'd rather we weren't going back, and I suspect this won't last.
Sean Duffy on slashing fuel economy standards: "This rule will actually allow you to bring back the 1970s station wagon. Maybe a little wood paneling on the side. We can bring back choice to consumers."

One of these years we really should thoroughly investigate Elon's role in the 2024 election. Some weird shit in PA got squelched pretty quickly by the don't-be-ridiculous Serious People crowd.
That isn't even the craziest thing that Trump posted tonight!

Trump also posted:
- John Durham's report was found in a burn bag
- Nancy Pelosi planned Jan 6th for 2 yrs
- President of Venezuela surrendered to Trump
- Elon saved the 2024 election from being stolen
- President Obama committed treason

This feels like one of those stories you're going to look at a year from now and say to yourself, "Why didn't I move more of my portfolio into cash?" **
