Here is the London Vegetable Orchestra’s moving, poignant rendition of O Little Town of Bethlehem played on two burly carved carrots, a butternut squash and a capsicum. I Little Crown of Broccoli more like:

Been thinking a lot about Our Wombie, and IMO, his legacy is community.

So many of the peeps I follow on here, and consider true friends, I met through him. I know a Wombat follow is a safe person, and usually blessed with creativity, humour, affection and more. (Yes, I mean YOU).

Thanks, Wombie x

Wombie wrote this about his friends but it is what we all thought of him too. Typical of him to have the perfect words for the occasion.

A light went out on the internet today. @wombat37.bsky.social you will be missed by so so many.
I'm glad and lucky I got to know you, and I'm blessed by the fact that I still have so many of your books to read.

I'm reading one now and it's your voice telling me the story.

One of Jim's other great skills is sneezing.

This is Jim, about 1/3 of the way through one of his sneezes, which are always explosive and, like him, large.

This particular sneeze was not detonated in Jim's ideal sneeze environment, which is when he has his face under four inches from mine.

Day 19: Parts of #writing that challenge me.

I struggle to visualise, as a result I find the first draft extremely taxing, because I have to form a world from something unseen.

But I do love to edit because then I can feel the rhythm and cadence and carve the story out of words already formed.
Day 18: Favourite characters created.

Herby from the Raindrop Ramblers – loves to invent with nature, pocket obsessed, hard to get down.

A couple of characters from my current WIP that I can't talk about yet because I haven't finished writing it
Day 17: of the ... Indie writer November challenge 😅

My Hobbies.
*clears throat*

Knitting, reading, writing, editing, walking, playing with cat, drawing, sewing, music, when I was near the sea – swimming,

I prefer the editing phase to the first draft of writing. Most of the time tightening up sentences for me is much easier than forming new ones.

But even on the days where I manage words in the single digits I would still not hand over the writing to an LLM.

These words, this story is mine
One of the many depressing things about people finding leftover GenAI prompts in books is that I can only assume it means the "author" didn't even bother reading through their book before publishing. And I'm over here painstakingly proofreading mine until I'm sick of the thing 😭

Happy Winter Solstice!

On midwinter’s day, the sun sets between the pair of stones that form the largest trilithon at #Stonehenge

Farewell to the shortest day of the year, as we look forward to lighter days ahead! ☀️

#SundayPixSounds, I could hear these munching on leaves, and they were so loud! Unfortunately, by the time I came to film them, they were in a silent post-food coma

Spilled cat food everywhere, and it would have been a disaster, but I had help from someone small and purry. She was born for that kind of cleaning!

No actual knitting BUT I unpicked a bit and now know where I'm starting from, and all my ducks ... er ... stitches should be in a row!
I might actually pick up my knitting this evening ... bets on how long before I realise I'm completely at sea as to where I got to and have to abandon / defrog everything.

My bet is 5 mins.

What do I want for Christmas?

a cottage that people will look at and say ‘ooh a witch lives there’.
A gardener/ cook to tend us and the wildlife
A library with a portal that will deliver me to all the supplies I need for things I want to make.
A crow friend who will keep us and our cat company
What do I want for Christmas?

A mysterious manor in the Scottish countryside, a library of vintage novels, a collection of the world’s rarest wines, an owl to deliver and retrieve my post, a butler with a mysterious backstory, and my own personal pastry chef.

I'm really not that hard to shop for.

Day 16: Am I a plotter, pantser, or plantser?

Planster. I really try to plan, but I just don't know enough going in, so the story evolves and grows. Slowly – drip by drip – a stalactite of a story forms.

And then I have to keep planning at regular intervals to try and catch up with where I am.
