He may be coming home soon, but only because his health has deteriorated to the point where he will lose his eyesight if detained much longer, due to medical neglect and the poor conditions

There was a speaker this semester who did this throughout their presentation and went significantly over time, and despite them being A Big Deal in the field, my students continue to absolutely roast them for it every time the topic comes up.
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

Fun fact about my big biz payroll tax bill which will fund vital services: employees making $125k annually already pay it via an “Additional Medicare Tax” on their federal tax returns.

Okay this is not meant as a defense of Nuzzi at all but how did Lizza get all of this info? As reporters working at rival publications I can't imagine this was casual dinner conversation.

So many amazing, talented journalists have been laid off. So many amazing reporters are scraping by with newsletters and trying to break through to the audiences they deserve. Meanwhile Nuzzi and Lizza and their claque manage to rise and dominate even the parts of the industry that aren’t captive.
I hope that this doesn't just become about "Nuzzi is bad" but fosters a wider recognition that our culture of political journalism that didn't just tolerate her, but promoted and celebrated her even after the allegations were known, is rotten to the core and has been for a long time.
this was bad before, but these are the most troubling and serious allegations you can make about a journalist. if they’re true, i genuinely can’t think of a worse scandal in the history of political journalism. devastating to our industry, to public trust as a whole, and to everyone in its orbit

This is called “chain refoulment” and it’s illegal under both U.S. and international law. And the State Department and ICE know very well what Ghana is doing and simply don’t care.
ICE deported a woman who owned a home in the US for 30 years. A judge banned ICE from deporting her to Sierra Leone where she had been tortured, so it deported her to Ghana, which kidnapped her and sent her back Sierra Leone anyway. ICE is part of this illegal conspiracy.
