blinken overrode state dept findings to falsify the Leahy report so that they could continue selling weapons to Israel. he lied to congress about it.

New: Bari Weiss booked Hillary Clinton, Mike Pompeo, and Antony Blinken for a roundtable on Gaza, her first major move at CBS.

Notably on a CBS call today in which the panel was floated, one producer also repeatedly emphasized the need to hear from Palestinians in Gaza (Weiss did not respond).

I understand that there are right ways and wrong ways to have the age conversation about Dem leadership and I don’t know how I feel about specific solutions like age and term limits. I do know THIS PART HERE is a problem bigger than any one individual 78-year-old and it’s making us all furious

I think my biggest betrayal is that it feels like they have not nurtured upcoming generations. we've watched them cut the knees out from people who get the base excited instead of mentoring them, it's aggravating as fuck.

the thing to do with self-censoring facts is just to build unassailable large comprehensive sources for them- nothing that's a stretch or that needs lots of explaining, as honest as you can get- and try and go through them with folks. it won't work orally.

yep I see that now I was just not putting 3 and 3 together

you can just read the interview, you know.
So I see this election as very critical to who we are as a nation - the character of America, democracy. And they may not like hearing that, but I don't like what they're saying either. And what they're - the assault that they are making on - no one is above the law. That's been what America has been about, except if you're Donald Trump.

KELLY: When you say they, you're talking about who? Republicans?

PELOSI: Yeah. I'm talking...

KELLY: People who support Trump?

PELOSI: ...About the cult that the Republican Party has become - a cult to a thug. And that thug would be Donald Trump. So I wish they'd take back their part of - the country needs a strong Republican Party. It has had a strong Republican Party with great leaders for America. And that is really not what we're seeing there. It's up to them, though.

please do not accept a half-measure on either the premiums or the illegality. if you have to compromise, do it somewhere else
chrismurphyct.bsky.social
4/ Ok, so then the obvious next step is to negotiate a compromise. That's how we've always avoided shutdowns. And Republicans need to convene those talks, bc they're in charge.

But here's the kicker - Trump is telling them to BOYCOTT NEGOTIATING. And they are following orders.

2/ Democrats aren't going to vote for a budget that throws millions off health care and funds Trump's growing totalitarianism. At least I'm not.

Why work so hard to get to the Senate if you don't use your power to fight for what you believe in? Especially at a time like this.

these people could live any sort of life they wanted to and they choose to immiserate themselves and others. nothing funny about it

🚨 The DSCC — led by Kirsten Gillibrand, Mark Kelly, Adam Schiff, and Lisa Blunt Rochester — has formed a joint fundraising committee with Janet Mills.

Mills, running against Graham Platner in the Maine Democratic Senate primary, would become the oldest freshman (79) ever elected, to a 6-year term.

i'm getting insane nausea inducing vertigo as i realize that i may have met both of these people while they were secretly together at an impromptu picnic of random twitter people at delores park and i'm realizing that this was largely faded because i accidentally ate half of an insane weed brownie

a state can only lose legitimacy if people prop up competing violence. this is tautological. that means militias/an army, violently resisting all arrests, etc etc. and/or it means state govts deploying their national guard against federal agents
jortscity.bsky.social
the republic can have ended and been replaced with something different. we can agree that the new thing is a legitimate state, even if it sucks, and we can ALSO agree to end this one and replace it, too.
jortscity.bsky.social
we should be careful about using "lost legitimacy". the state's legitimacy comes from our agreement to grant it the monopoly on violence. this is a different question than "has the 2nd (1st) American Republic as established by the Constitution ended?"
aubreygilleran.bsky.social
No, it is not lost legitimacy yet. It's rapidly declining but isn't there yet.

The many media outlets, politicians, and commentators who rushed to declare “a great peace, glory to the king!” should ask themselves why they did that, and figure out how to not make the same mistake again.
