It's also a really lovely day for a mildly moody walk through the woods, just fyi.
I did accidentally end up spinning it on the floor a few times, but even that needs work so I don't let the arms touch the floor. I'm sure with practice it will all get easier, and if not, I'll have to go shopping for a lighter spindle - not something I particularly mind!
I am trying again to make friends with a drop spindle, and I think I have to accept that my 33g Turkish just can't do thin singles. Which is fine, because this Shaniko Tweed from 316 Dye Studios (in the appropriately named Lite-Brite color) will look pretty good as a DK/worsted 2-ply. #handspun 🧶

Can’t decide what to buy on Prime Day?

Try: absolutely nothing, and then go support indie bookstores instead 📚
Very lucky to have a husband who can print more bobbins when I run out! My current project has filled 4 of my 6 bobbins with no end in sight, so I may yet end up needing a few more, but not for a few weeks. #handspinning 🧶

Amélie is more of a detective movie than any Batman movie has ever been.
Okay, I think I can see it... It does look like it could be snaggy though, definitely an interesting design choice!
Re-reading Snow Crash and waiting for my preorder of Queen Demon to arrive!
Hmmm... That was my best I guess. I agree the color is pretty perfect, so hopefully it turns out to be something useful!

Desperately trying to will sweater weather into existence with a new cast on. This is The Botanist by @theacolman.bsky.social in @purlsoho.bsky.social Hedgerow, a merino Donegal tweed with a smidge of cashmere and silk. #knitting 🧶

It is Fleece Artist Merino Slim, in the color way Forillon Qc! I actually liked this one better in the skein than how it is knitting up, but it is growing on me...
Taking lunch in my car and knitting while parked outside a cemetery seems super appropriate for September. The Musselburgh hat seems never ending - this is only half a hat - but that was kind of the point, a project that is super easy to pick up and put down and will keep me busy for a while. 🧶

Time for another round of ‘What’s on Your Needles?’ 🧶Week 58 of #ShowMeYourKnits; let’s see WIPs 🚧, TBFs 🪡, & even the Naughty Basket™️.

I’ll have a lot to say this week as I need to have honest look 👀 at some things… Bit of a sock graveyard 🪦 at mine right now; trying new things & not loving them…

Steeking and blocking done, all that's left to do is sew a few buttons! #knitting #handspinning 🧶
Thank yoouuuu! I am so excited, I have been spinning and planning for this sweater for years, and I think I can power through and finish this weekend!
I made my first niddy noddy out of PVC pipe, it's fairly inexpensive and accessible! Or, if you have a friend or library with a 3D printer, there are several free print files out there that work quite well.
Our camping trip was..not ideal (dog got injured at the sitters, car broke down two states away from home, and it was so cold and rainy that we left a day early), but we're having a nice do-over with hot dogs, s'mores and knitting by the fire pit in our own backyard. #knitting #handspinning 🧶
You will get it! It takes a while to build up the muscle memory, but some day it just clicks. I was spinning for a few years before starting this sweater project, and even then it took me a few more years to finish all the yarn!
It's the Shiftigan by Andrea Mowry - very well suited to handspun!
