I hesitated to share this with all of you, but I fear I must.

I recently got a bluetooth kegel device that gives you exercises in the form of little games — airplane dogfights and hurdle-jumping and so on. It just gave me a new one, flappy bird duel, for which it found a human opponent.

iow, I'm equally as frustrated when fiction breaks its own rules

I was going to make a joke about sff, magic, & tech,
but actually, those authors need to think about how everything fits together -- perhaps even more so bc if normal rules don't apply, then you need to think about the implications of the things you've invented.

Thanksgiving seems pretty widely celebrated in small anglophone communities (based on the number of harvest suppers my mom is talking about going to in Gaspe)

I had a friend who was 6'1" and when guys would exaggerate their height around them, they would say they were 5'10" which, I imagine, was a devastating emotional blow.

Amazing Emergency Naked Ride. Here’s the moment thousands of riders rolled through the protests at the ICE facility and cheers erupted. 😮💯

I had this exact experience last week at a philosophy conference where I attended a talk on “ecology” and “biomimicry.”

Wage labor hasn’t always existed and won’t always exist and neither has or will private capital. You can’t prove this claim it’s just something you’ve been taught to feel so you will get online and defend your oppressors for free.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."
