UPDATE: After nine months of unjust detention in an Israeli prison, Mohammed has been released.

I met with his loved ones earlier this year, and I can only imagine the joy and relief they must be feeling.

Praying for his healing and recovery, after months of inhumane treatment.
Right now, Mohammed Ibrahim, a US citizen, is being held in an Israeli prison.

His health is deteriorating. The circumstances are desperate.

The United States must use every avenue available to secure the release of this Palestinian American child.

To put a finer point on this whole thing: "Two people with direct knowledge of the operation" — presumably uniformed military leaders — are accusing the U.S. Secretary of Defense of personally ordering specific war crimes. That's a historic accusation.
Textbook war crime/extrajudicial killing

"Two survivors were clinging to the smoldering wreck. The Special Operations commander overseeing the Sept. 2 attack ... ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions."

Hegseth order on first Caribbean boat strike, officials say: Kill them all
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a verbal order to kill all crew members in the Sept. 2 strike on a suspected drug boat. Navy SEALs fired a second missile.

What do these corporations have in common?

Netflix

In recent years, they all paid their execs more than they paid in taxes.

This is what a corporate-rigged system looks like.

Also recognize that this unambiguous use of the military to commit murder of helpless noncombatants as they fought for life is a direct reflection of the virulent white supremacy that has seized our government, where every Latino man is a gangbanger in a de facto state of war against White America

And liberals want to make it about when he got asylum? As if that doesn't play right into Miller's narrative? This is a consequence of a bipartisan military complex and addiction to brutality. Grow up.

The DC shooting story is really getting to me because we literally trained this man as a child soldier for a death squad in a forever war and Stephen Miller et al want to blame it on other cultures? It's our culture, American culture, that killed that woman.

If you think about it, committing carnage in public is peak US assimilation.

The reality, of course, is that Miller and a significant portion of Trump’s base are the ones who failed to assimilate to America’s post-WWII culture of multi-racial democracy & religious pluralism…and they are now using their power to destroy that once dominant (and still popular) American culture.
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

I can only think of one person for whom this is true and it’s Stephen Miller, who for some reason will not rest till the US reproduces the violent xenophobia that made his and my ancestors flee eastern Europe. The rest of his family seems normal, though

No one shld lose sight of the fact that the Guard was only in DC as part of an extended political messaging stunt. The shooter is guilty for the attacks/carnage. Donald Trump is responsible for them. This is the collateral damage of Trump abusing his powers as President.
Pirro: "These Guardsmen and all who are here to protect the District are the line that separates a civilized society from a barbaric one."

This kind of shit is why I finally joined the DSA. Dems voting to condemn the “horrors of socialism” during two genocides and while fascists invade US cities, kidnapping our neighbors off the street? And as a snub to a mayor-elect of a major US city who won in the Dem ticket? Craven at best.

Hey folks—follow and support this absolute super star (and CUNY GC sociology PhD student). She’s a fantastic thinker and organizers and we would be lucky to have her in Congress!
With Trump’s authoritarianism at our doorstep and billionaire greed in our backyard, we need someone who won't let AIPAC, real estate developers, & corporate PACs dictate how hard we fight back.

Today, I'm launching my campaign for Congress in #NY13 with @justicedems support!

Some abled parents of disabled people are the most violent ableists. They use their children as tools to demonstrate their heroism in shouldering the burden of taking care of a disabled person, think they’re incapable of ableism, and say the experience of a caretaker is the same as being disabled.

I'm seeing people wonder why ICE is going after Charlotte.

ICE has been at war with Charlotte's sheriff ever since he won in 2018.

We'd covered this at Bolts back in the day; this quote is from that sheriff:
“When the 8 African American sheriffs took over the largest counties in North Carolina, it became a threat to the good ol’ boy system,” says the sheriff of Charlotte. These new sheriffs broke ties with ICE.

But GOP lawmakers cracked down this week, overbidding the governor’s veto to adopt this law:
North Carolina GOP Is Cracking Down on the Black Sheriffs Who Stood Up to ICE
Boosted by new supermajorities, Republicans are closing in on legislation to mandate more collaboration with ICE and preempt local policies hard-won by immigrants’ rights advocates.

Alice brought so much to so many of us, it’s hard to measure the kind of gratitude I have for that.
