In a nutshell, I fear living in a world where everyone believes 2+2=5 "because ChatGPT says so"
@weeklyshowpodcast.bsky.social had a great AI discussion but didn't address my #1 fear: it'll be used w/ no double-checking its errors + hallucinations, to make unreviewable medical, financial, + legal decisions, + everyone will forget how to do things right b/c all they know to do is ask AI
Cat, presented with tap water in a dish designated for him: Meh

Cat, spying the exact same tap water in a human's drinking glass: LET ME AT IT

I once did some family research that relied on an old report that actually has been digitized ... but none of the appendices or supporting documents were included in the digital copy. Even the small amount of digitized material that exists is often incomplete
When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.
Seems like it's worth posting this one again.

Oh there could always be other factors going on behind the scenes, but people are really out there “talking” to “AI” and thinking it’s giving them all the answers

Are you fucking kidding me, he is establishing the most onerous purity tests imaginable to serve this country. You have to bend the knee, can't even mention climate, race, gender, equality, compassion, or dozens of other code words they find objectionable
Vance: "President Trump did not built the greatest coalition in politics by running his supporters through endless, self-defeating purity tests ... we don't care if you're controversial or a little bit boring, people of every faith come to our banner."

This. So much this.
Congress’s three favorite lines:
1. Sorry we can’t do anything, we’re in the minority
2. Sorry we can’t do anything, we need a supermajority
3. Sorry we can’t do anything, our party’s in the White House and we have to support the president

A huge part of the book-banning project aims to make work that provides a public good feel impossible and unsafe! It targets authors, absolutely, but it’s also trying to add unreasonable administrative burdens to the work of teachers and librarians.
Officials in Tennessee aren't just banning books, they're now demanding information on who checked out contested (largely LGBTQ+) books, including names, addresses, and "household composition."

A librarian who was given the directive has come forward asking for whistleblower protections.

A First Amendment expert told The Advocate that there are "huge" legal implications stemming from the situation.

I cannot state any more baldly or clearly than I already have about what an immense menace RFK Jr. is. The number of preventable illnesses and deaths - of *babies* - will be horrific. This anti-vax crap is grotesque anti-science, and always has been.
Congratulations to everyone who wrote an op-ed about how he just wants americans to eat better

YOU DUMB FUCKS. THIS IS ME.

I have a scooter. I can walk. I can't, however, walk through 80 miles of airport. I can walk onto an airplane or through hallways. I can't walk the .5 mile to the convention center.

People, get smarter, it's embarrassing at this point.
