We're horrified & outraged: Immigration agents have once again committed cold-blooded murder of a public observer who posed no threat to them.

This time, they've executed a fellow nurse, Alex Pretti. We demand justice and accountability. Abolish ICE, now! https://bit.ly/4big77u

I was a sensitive kid. I loved cats. I had OCD, undiagnosed.

When I was 9, a fraternity brother tortured a cat to death in my hometown. The details even now are beyond imagination. archive.is/xdmUL

I was traumatized for years from reading the news story.

The torturer? Now the head of the NRA.

We need this so bad.
It just now strikes me that the United States, unlike every other democracy in the world, has never ever ever had an early presidential election. This seems like a problem? Like you need to have an institutionalized path for designating an entire administration illegitimate and voting for a new one?

Videos verified by The New York Times show the man federal agents shot and killed in Minneapolis on Saturday was holding a phone, not a gun, before the agents took him to the ground and shot him. At least 10 shots appear to have been fired within five seconds. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

They ARE lying fucks but this date issue seems to be an artifact of how Google dates social media posts in search results. The images get the date of the start of the thread.
What lying fucks they all are.

We kidnapped a kid. But his parents didn’t do exactly what we asked so we fed the child. As you can see, we, the kidnappers, are clearly the good guys. We will not take any questions.
ICE spokesperson Marcos Charles: "My officers stayed with the child. They cared for him. Took him to get something to eat from a drive-thru restaurant and spent hours ensuring he was taken care of. Again, my officers did that, not his father ... his family refused to open the door and take him back"

Today’s Minnesota Star Tribune front page will be hung in museums in future.

Every headline, every inch of it documenting a failed state; a descent into authoritarianism.

Judging by the poor quality of biomarker research I see reported in biomedical journals, my article "How to Do Bad Biomarker Research" must have been hugely influential: www.fharrell.com/post/badb/in... #Statistics #StatsSky #EpiSky
How to Do Bad Biomarker Research – Statistical Thinking
This article covers some of the bad statistical practices that have crept into biomarker research, including setting the bar too low for demonstrating that biomarker information is new, believing that...

Tonight I opted to sip bourbon and listen to to an album straight through. I chose Mark O’Conner and the New Nashville Cats circa 1991. Excellent choice.

One of the hardest thing for humans to do consistently is get risk factors in the correct order. Confusing primary effects with third order fourth order or fifth order effects is shockingly human.

This is like a tense scene from a techno thriller where the director wants to establish absolutely that the government authorities are the baddies and lack humanity as well as morality.
Minnesota: "School officials say the [5-year-old] child was used as bait. They say [ICE] agents made little Liam knock on the door to ask to be let in in order to see if anyone else was home."

Execs spend a lot of time thinking through problems or drafting responses… stuff LLMs are already great at. Staff work, like reconciling spreadsheets row by row and prepping data for the GL, is more procedural and harder to map cleanly onto an LLM.

At least Hitler could keep Poland and Denmark straight while ranting. It’s pretty clear the very special boy is out of his mind, right?
Trump is now confusing Greenland and Iceland: "They're not there for us on Iceland, that I can tell you. Our stock market took the first dip yesterday because of Iceland. So Iceland has already cost us a lot of money."

Americans are realizing that unfettered federal power to detain and arrest is a very dangerous thing. I learned that lesson as a child when they put us into internment camps just for looking like the enemy. Don’t go further down this road.

This is not a rational person. And this is deeply disturbing coming from an American President. NATO is not our enemy—they are unequivocally our closest friends and allies.

At this point, how can you not call into question the mental fitness of this President?

I watched a guy in a Vikings puffer and another in a bathrobe sling at least 10,000 verbal assaults each. So I think maybe the illiterate ICE goons are bad at counting. Just a theory.
"We've seen over a thousand percent increase in assaults on ICE officers, 8,000 verbal assaults on them...."

Dolly Parton turns 80 today. I will never stop being in awe that she wrote “Joleen” and "I Will Always Love You” the same week.

Then she proved to us that a person can both go big and go home. Absolute queen.

People who run an AI dev environment on top of an Obsidian vault, do you use source control on it? In any other context I have AI working I'll have git in the mix. But when I use it on Obsidian, I duplicate the repo before goign to work. Should my Obsidian vault be a git repo?
